I like them alright, though I used to love them. One of my phases I suppose.
Colors was good, but not quite on the highest level I think the band could reach. I think now that, with Colors, they have ceased being a metalcore band with progressive metal tenancies, and more a progressive metal band with metalcore tenancies, and I think this is a style they can begin perfecting now that Colors is over and done with. and they are touring with so many prog metal bands as opposed to metalcore bands.
their image is changing, and I think the music will too, and it'll all get better than it already is.
Good band, but I think their future is brighter than their past.
Also, I thought I'd add my two cents: live, supposedly they are very good. My friend has seen them 3 times, liked them all 3 times, and based on some youtube videos they seem technically capable and adept live, although their stage presence is a bit lacking.

They are one of the most talented bands out there. As far as their albums go, IMO Colors is the best, followed by The Silent Circus (although the recording isn't very good), Alaska, and self-titled.
I like what they have done combining many genres into one giant song.

I saw them live a month ago opening for DT and these totally blew me away, they sounded very professional, especially the vocalist and the drummer.

Colors (as well as the band in general) took me completely by surprise- the description of them would never make me think I would like them as much as I do can't wait to see how their next album sounds, though I think that might be a few years away

They're going into the studio pretty soon, after another North American tour . Also they're recording Colors live at a show in Nashville and releasing it as a DVD...tickets are only $6, they're playing 2 sets: 1 is all colors, and the 2nd is old favorites I can't wait for the release.

So thats what the voting was for on their myspace page, the 2nd set. That should be really great, I guess I'll have to start listening to their older material soon to know it for the DVD.

They seem to me like a metalcore band that throws-in random, zany stuff to try and be "progressive" and different. Their experimentation doesn't feel genuine and the novelty is lost on me...

/\ I can sort of understand that with the little barfight break or children laughing part, but I don't think that's where the "progressive" tag comes from in the first place

The Metalcore element is no longer really apparent in their music. It's here and there, but the metal side of it is now really drawing a lot from death and thrash metal and not really metalcore anymore. A band like BtBaM really do set out to express themselves, and I never felt anything they did was anything other than genuine.

Awesome band. I first heard them last year and I'm hooked ever since.
