yeah I have to agree, they are too happy and GY!BE sounds dark, and I really could not find any resemblance when I heard them. I must have forgotten. It's been quite a while since I listened to both of these bands. Edited by burritounit - June 19 2008 at 17:55 |

I mean that most post rock have a similar approach to these giants of the genre. Just like you say EitS is a clone of GY!BE.

I thought that Sickoakes approach was rather original, and conversly, that EitS was pretty standard Post Rock. GY!BE stil remains my favorite Post Rock band, but EitS just sounds like a good, but thinly veiled GY!BE cloen.

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde! Al di Meola.
haha i know. but the poll itself is avant-garde
|

I'm not sure. I like GY!BE, Explosions In The Sky, Transit, The Pirate Ship Quintet maybe some more. Normally I tend to look for a more original approach. Edited by burritounit - June 19 2008 at 16:47 |

Hey guys!
I'm just making a quick stop here to say that the Danish bands Efterklang and Lis Er Stille have been added to the archives. Check them out if you haven't. Believe me, they're worth it. ![]() |

Sickoakes is a great band. Their album Seawards falls into that category of must haves for the genre.

It seems that Deteriors Myspace was just down for a bit, anyways.... Very pretty stuff Jody; thanks for another great recommendation!
![]() So, i got LITEs album "Phantasia" and i've been enjoying it immensely; I think it has some very beautiful compositions. I've put some idea's together for a review, (as well as a much needed review for the Sam Jackson 5) i just need to muster up the boldness to post them. ![]()
I'm gonna have to check this band out ![]() Edited by Dominic - June 19 2008 at 03:33 |

So, Sickoakes, anyone?
I just got their album, Seawards, and I'm blown away. It's like GY!BE meets EitS meets These Monsters..., and it does it so well! Possibly one of my favorite post rock bands, ever!

I'll probably listen to them more closely over the next few days, and see what I like and don't like as much.
I've always thought Like Herod was a super cool song. |

Young Team is sadly way ahead of all that followed......ok CODY was pretty good too but YT is the real epiphany, the real sock-it-to-you impact that blows minds in a lovely way..........

Mogwai FTW. I've got nearly all their discography, but haven't got around to listening to half of it yet.
Happy Songs is pretty awesome though. |

What did you think? I just picked up the remastered version of Young Team (only had mp3 before today). Good stuff. Happy Songs is still my favorite Mogwai album though. |

I don't think Indukti and Tool are Post Rock/Metal. |
