Young Team is sadly way ahead of all that followed......ok CODY was pretty good too but YT is the real epiphany, the real sock-it-to-you impact that blows minds in a lovely way..........

I'll probably listen to them more closely over the next few days, and see what I like and don't like as much.
I've always thought Like Herod was a super cool song.

So, Sickoakes, anyone?

I just got their album, Seawards, and I'm blown away.  It's like GY!BE meets EitS meets These Monsters..., and it does it so well!  Possibly one of my favorite post rock bands, ever!

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde!

Al di Meola.

It seems that Deteriors Myspace was just down for a bit, anyways.... Very pretty stuff Jody; thanks for another great recommendation!  Clap

So, i got LITEs album "Phantasia" and i've been enjoying it immensely; I think it has some very beautiful compositions. I've put some idea's together for a review, (as well as a much needed review for the Sam Jackson 5) i just need to muster up the boldness to post them. Big%20smile

Sickoakes is a great band.  Their album Seawards falls into that category of must haves for the genre.

Hey guys!

I'm just making a quick stop here to say that the Danish bands Efterklang and Lis Er Stille have been added to the archives. Check them out if you haven't. Believe me, they're worth it. Big%20smile

I'm not sure. I like GY!BE, Explosions In The Sky, Transit, The Pirate Ship Quintet maybe some more. Normally I tend to look for a more original approach.

I thought that Sickoakes approach was rather original, and conversly, that EitS was pretty standard Post Rock.   GY!BE stil remains my favorite Post Rock band, but EitS just sounds like a good, but thinly veiled GY!BE cloen.

I mean that most post rock have a similar approach to these giants of the genre. Just like you say EitS is a clone of GY!BE.

yeah I have to agree, they are too happy and GY!BE sounds dark, and I really could not find any resemblance when I heard them. I must have forgotten. It's been quite a while since I listened to both of these bands.

If you really like GY!BE check out Transit and Souls Vibrating in The Universe. Also OVUM, Mooncake and Equus. I still haven't heard the last 2 but soon to check'em out. There are still plenty but don't quite remember. Maybe check the pages randomly. You'll find something.

Nice to know, actually souls vibrating in the universe is the one I like the most and they have strange vocals.
