In approximate order: 1. Genesis--Supper's Ready. Everything about it is beautiful! The finale gives me goosebumps every single time! 2. Magma--De Futura. Absolutely incredible, 18 minutes of Janik Top's best bass work, topped with Christian Vander's impecable drumming, odd time-signature melodies, primodial grunts, and strange noises from minimoogs. 3. VdGG--A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers. Features some of Robert Fripp's best guitar work. I love how the finale is the only happy part of the song, as the narrator has finally gone so insane that he has invented an imaginary friend to keep him company. 4. Nektar--Remember the Future. What are they talking about? Who cares! Very melodic, very upbeat, a lot of fun. 5. Jethro Tull--A Passion Play. Tull's best work, it features the best writing and performance the band ever put together. Beautiful melodies throughout, with wisecracks left and right. |
This may just be the most out-of-character thing I've ever read. I have no idea how much of this is serious. |
OMG I forgot that there was a time when I actually posted in the prog music lounges. Nowadays I'd probably just pop in there with "IDK BUT THEYRE ALL BY MAGMA" or "OCTVARARAVIOUM AMIRITE"

In other news, my amusing pictures thread got shot down, and if it's because of the image I chose, I'm going to be pissed. This site is far too censorship friendly.
If people get their feelings hurt... they get their feelings hurt.
Grr.... There is nothing in that picture that is offensive.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I guess that's what I get for playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (aka pure win) all day instead of posting here.

Hmmmm....I wonder why terrorism would offend people here?
I know it's an innocuous enough image, but you know how sensitive people can be here over things like "King Crimson is overrated" or something, and most people take terrorist attacks that cost 2,823 lives one hell of a lot more seriously than they do King Crimson.

Damn, it took all my effort not to point out all the flaws in the progtologist's post...

Then point them out.
What you said in your second post in that thread was what pissed me off.

I've never seen the appeal in MMORPG's.
Or Star Wars video games, for that matter.

I didn't hear that Shakes, let's hope it's better than Star Wars Galaxies.
I am really hyped for The Force Unleashed video game though,it looks like it's going to be extremely good.

Folly and Jody asploded on each other over whether 9/11 is amusing (it isn't). Besides that, not much.

Faust's debut is awesome. This is probably my favorite non-Can single-LP Kraut album.

Prepare to have your head asplode. It's the krautiest kraut album ever recorded.

Apparently nobody in Germany really knows about krautrock, which is depressing since going to Germany is basically the first thing I'm doing after I graduate.

Meh, 9/11 wasn't the humorous aspect of that picture. I was naive enough to think the picture was real (shoots self ), and if it were, I maintain that it would be funny. But since it's a fake, it's merely a poor attempt at humor. My mistake there. And in my defense, I kept myself from "asploding" at all in this situation.

Also, Faust's debut is ridiculously good. Agreed with Riley and taken further, Faust is the best non CAN Kraut CD.
