Knoblauch definitely had that problem.  It was sad to watch.

I'm curious to see what happens to Dontrelle Willis now that he was sent down to Class A.  He hasn't been the same since two seasons ago.  The Tigers better hope he finds his control, and they better hope Cabrera starts hitting like the elite player he's supposed to be, because they're paying both a hell of a lot of money.

They sent him all the way down to single A?  That makes it sound like he's in for some heavy reworking of his motion.  He's probably gone for a good while.  With Bonderman gone for the season now, the Tigers really don't have much in the rotation.

It'll definitely be interesting to see what happens with the starting rotation.  Verlander has had 6 good starts in a row.  Kenny Rogers has had 4 good starts in a row. Nate Robertson pitched an excellent game Tuesday against Chicago.  And Armando Gallaraga has been the Tigers best pitcher all season; very consistent, but unfortunately is only good for 5 to 6 innings before he tires.  Hopefully that will improve.  The guy that they are calling up from AAA has a 9 and 2 record, but they say he doesn't have overpowering stuff.  This could mean he is a Paul Byrd type pitcher, which might be a good thing, or it could mean that he has the stuff of a middle reliever, which is a bad thing.

Nate Robertson is the most frustrating pitcher for me.  He has great stuff and he will usually be cruising along for 3 or 4 innings until boom he gives up a 4 or 5 run inning.  Or on the other hand he will give up 4 or 5 runs in the 1st inning and then pitch 5 or 6 shutout innings afterwards.  He just always seems to be the victim of a big inning.  Not sure if he loses his concentration or if once a guy or two gets on base he panics and all hell breaks loose.  In the 2006 AL Championship series against Oakland he loaded the bases with no outs, and then proceeded to strike out the next 3 guys to get out of the inning.  Fortunately then, but unfortunately otherwise, that is the exception to the norm with him.

Knoblauch and Sax both had that problem. It usually happens to catchers who can't throw the ball directly back to the pitcher.

If the Pirates can keep up with the rate they are at they will win 90 games. Smile  It would be nice to see them finish with a winning record for a change.

There's a family where my wife grew up names Ciopollini - that's "little onion", if I'm not mistaken?

so much for the Buccos winning 90 games, they can't even beat the Orioles.

Great game last night.  Tigers 5 Dodgers 0.  The Tigers got their first shutout of the year, after having been shutout 9 times themselves.  4 game winning streak. 6 games out of 7.  Unfortunately, the Pale Hose, the Twinkies, and the Indians all won too, so no ground was made up.  Although we did gain another game on the Royals.  They really miss playing the Tigers, don't they?

The Tigers and Dodgers are the Fox National game of the week today, so most likely the Dodgers will win by double digits.  The Tigers have sucked on national coverage games this year.

Those Tigers put up a 6 spot on the Dodgers and are winning 10-6. Not quite the beat down that the Cards got last night from the Phillies.

Yanks are now 3 games above .500!
Actually that is good news. Offense still hot, and MAYBE maybe they are getting the pitching settled

Yanks finally have 5 men who can be depended upon to at least look decent every day.

The bullpen, though, makes me Cry

The bullpen this year is much more reliable this year I think...Farnsworth needs to get away from any close games. I get so nervous when I see him in big situations.

What happened to Bonderman anyway?

A blood clot, which is very scary business.  From Yahoo sports:
Jun 12 RHP Jeremy Bonderman is scheduled to be seen next week by the same doctor who operated on teammate LHP Kenny Rogers. Both pitchers were afflicted with blood clots in their shoulders. Bonderman will be examined Tuesday by Dr. Greg Pearl in Dallas to determine the cause of the blood clot that knocked him out of action last weekend. Pearl operated on Rogers to repair blood vessels in his shoulder last year. If he determines Bonderman's blockage was caused by a rib, as is suspected, it could forced removal of a rib in a surgery that would end Bonderman's season. Pearl performed a similar procedure on Rogers to remove a rib when he had the same problem in 2001. Bonderman went on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.

He's on the 15-day now, but it looks like his season is almost definitely over.  Detroit just doesn't want to put him on the 60-day until he's absolutely positively not gonna be back this season.

And as scary as Kyle is in a close game, there's nobody better in that bullpen besides Mo.  Maybe Edwar Ramirez, but he's awfully inexperienced to put him in the tight situations.  He's got one of the best change-ups I've ever seen, btw.

Did anybody see what happened with Chipper Jones yesterday?  In a total freak accident, while he was taking BP a ball he popped up bounced off of the top bar of the cage and smacked him in the cheek, with the blow serious enough to take him to the hospital for examination.  Fortunately, nothing is broken and he's back in the lineup.

As much as I dislike the Braves, I hope Chipper hits .400, just because it would be such an amazing feat.

Does anyone know when Chris Young (San Diego) will be back?  He's on my fantasy team, and I'm thinking of dropping him.  I could use another pitcher since I still have four injured players.

He's only on the 15 day DL since May 22 with a fractured nose. I wouldn't think that would effect his pitching ability. He should be back anytime now. No word on their site about his activation.

Chien-Ming Wang better be not be hurt badly, the Yanks' pitching staff is in bad enough shape as it is.  If his foot's broken, he'll be the second Yankee this year to be forced to miss most of the season due to a broken foot.
