It must suck to be Mark Prior. He's having season ending surgery on a torn muscle. I feel really bad for him since he has so much talent but injuries have devastated his career.

Great night for Buccos fans, down 4-0 they get a Grand Slam and then one more to beat the Cards 5-4.
Two Grand Slams in the four game series.
Yes.

Corey Hart hit a three-run inside-the-park home run today. He's da man.

Smoltz is having season ending surgery and could retire.
Too bad the Braves couldn't have gotten Maddux back into the fold. It would have been nice to see Glavine,Smoltz and Maddux back on the same team one last time.

I'm still not convinced that he's for real. Bruce, Uggla, and McLouth are all due for collapses, IMO.

From Yahoo Sports: Jun 3 3B Chipper Jones is working to correct a flaw in his
swing, if you can believe it. He says it's a little mechanical flaw
that's alternately keeping him from elevating the ball or causing him
to elevate it too much. Apparently the work he's been doing to correct
this has worked: He hit a three-run home run, the 399th of his career,
in the first inning.
How the hell can there be a problem with Chipper's swing? He's hitting .407 in June, for crying out loud.

I was in attendance at last night's Tigers game and again the fearsome Tigers' offense was toothless. 4 hits, 0 walks, 2 runs on both solo home runs. They lost 4-2. They have lost 4 in a row and are now 11 games under .500. They will have to play almost .700 ball the remainder of the season to have a chance at making the playoffs. The highlight of the game was rookie Jeff Larish hitting his 1st major league home run (while sporting a .095 batting average). It landed about 7 rows in front of me. If the guy hadn't caught the ball it was going to land in the aisle way and might just have bounced up to me. The cool thing about catching a first home run is that the guy who hits the home run usually wants to keep the ball, so the person who catches it can exchange the ball for a chance to meet the player, and usually get some SWAG also.
Paul Byrd pitched for the Indians. He is a Maddux-like pitcher. One of the those guys who can't break a pane of glass with his fastball, but nibbles on the corners. If I am not mistaken he beat the Tigers all 4 times he faced them last year too.
Oh well. Going back for more punishment this afternoon. The game is at 3:55 so I think it is the Fox Sports national game of the week. This was supposed to be the battle for first place but instead it is the battle for 3rd place. Or more appropriately, the battle to stay out of last place. Thankfully for the Tigers, the Royals haven't played them in a while and can't seem to beat anybody else.

How did you post this at 12:30 when the game ended after 4 o'clock?! This was QUITE a game, and I was fortunate enough to be in attendance. After the fourth, a few friends of my brother left the game, and we took the tickets to their FIRST ROW SEATS BEHIND HOME PLATE. It was truly incredible, probably one of the three or four best ballgames I've ever been to. I feel a little guilty, though, for yelling "I miss Scott Proctor! Can we trade back?" at Wilson Betemit. Seriously, though, bad call by Brian Cashman.

The Phillies are on fire! And they've already won this series with Atlanta! And the Marlins are collapsing (finally)! And the Mets are still mediocre!

The Mets are hurting me right now with my fantasy baseball. I've got David Wright and he is not hitting like he did last year. I dropped Pedro once he went on the DL. If it wasn't for Chipper Jones and Adrian Gonzalez I would be hurting in the hitting department.

I get pretty much all my offense from third base: Chippah Jones and A-Rod. I have one of them DH when their both healthy (startlingly rare, this season).
