Has anyone heard Zao? I was listening to their live album today and was just floored.

semi-love Zao
got Shekina and Zawana and 7=something or other in mp3 and I really should buy them
they do still have that "zeuhl but not Magma" tendency to just be jazz or funk sometimes and that sort of bothers me
but there are points in their music where they are dead-on super neato

I heard Shekina and my initial impression was kinda "meh." It seemed like somewhat uninspired fusion with a string quartet sawing away for some reason. Then again, it was just one listen a while ago.
But what is this live album of which you speak?

I've got three albums of theirs. Melikes plenty. There definitely not a super highlight or anything, I think.
Anyway, Jake, get the bass to Ushanka finished. Dylan and I were wondering about opening the album with it. Also we need more songs for the commie side. Well, at least one more.

It'll probably not be until about next Sunday that I'm back over at my

They've only got one, it was right after Yochk'o Seffer left, unfortunately, but it has Didier Lockwood on violin, great zeuhl fuzz bass of course, and an insane drummer. The sound quality was a little marginal, but not enough to put me off. Definitely more Soft Heap-esque jazz-fusiony than your sort of MDK-type zeuhl.

I'm not even sure what Ushanka is anymore. I vote for Aught but Aught to open the album.

That thing already has a bass track on it. And I doubt I could learn that bass part off of the recording anyway.

Ok, so Jake, Josh is working on a new song where he's drumming a straight beat and will stop playing entirely whenever he feels like. This'll give us a few seconds to let rip in between each phrase. I think we should kraut-jam this mother up; got any key preference before we go in?
