They're a fun team to watch, but the pitching just isn't good enough...they can only go so far. |

I agree about their pitching; Hamels is their ace but after that it's iffy. Moyer is a solid pitcher, but he's their oldest player. I'm not sure how Kendrick will do over the course of the season. Myers has been awful for some reason, and they really need him to pitch better. And Adam Eaton is... Adam Eaton.

One more solid ace and some better middle relief might be all they need - they certainly have the bats, now even Dobbs and Chris Coste are getting into the act

Where was the everything in that series with the Rockies? I wish I knew. It didn't help that they ran into the hottest team in baseball at the time. Dammit, why couldn't they play the helpless Padres?! |

How about Jay Bruce's major league debut?! 3/3 two RBI's, two runs scored and a stolen base. I'm glad I picked him up for all my fantasy teams.

Now THESE are the Royals that I'm used to--10 game losing streak. The optimism was fun while it lasted.

Happened to be in Baltimore yesterday, went to Camden Yards and saw the Yanks beat the O's. Camden is such a beautiful ballpark, it's a shame that it's wasted on the Orioles....it's rarely more than half full.

That reminds me... why are the Marlins still in Florida? It always seems like when I watch games there the stadium is way more than half empty (yes, I know it's a big stadium). And now they're getting a new stadium? For a team that is constantly dismantled by fire sales, this doesn't make sense to me. They did sign Hanley Ramirez, but I'm still skeptical that they would change their philosophy for the rest of their young stars.

I guess the idea is that a bright, shiny new stadium will attract fans. But look at Baltimore; Camden is an absolutely cream-of-the-crop ballpark, but they can't put asses in the seats because they can't put a good team on the field. Florida's gonna have the same problem.

For the six years I lived in Washington I always wanted to catch a game there but never made it. One of the few things I regret not having done. |

Wow... I'm looking at attendance numbers for the Expos/Nationals, and I must say that the Expos had pathetically low average attendance numbers. Under 10,000 four times, none over 30,000, and it looks like must between 10,000 and 20,000. Good thing they moved....

Yeah, I noticed in a baseball-almanac-like-thing that I was reading that the Expos had by far the lowest attendance throughout the nineties.
It's still kinda funny though that they moved a team out of Canada and smacked a really patriotic all-American name on them. |

Yep, of all the names they could have picked, they chose the most ironic, and least creative and boring name possible.

Well at least they didn't name them the Senators for the 3rd time. |

At least "Senators" was a creative name. Nationals is just....bland.

Finally catching a game at the new Busch tonight. I'm hoping the Buccos give them a better game than they did last night.

What a great game that it was. Had SRO tix and got rained on for 8 innings but the Buccos won 14-4. Got to see Paulino hit a Grand Slam and the Cardinal faithful leave by the 5th inning. A good night for Pirate baseball.
