Clearly, this does not.

I've edited it slightly but if you feel it is still "inappropriate" please feel free to discuss it in the reviews discussion thread and we'll look at it further.

Thanks for reporting.

Perhaps I'm being to critical on this review. I have no reason to disagree with his opinions on McLaughlins playing style. But. The last sentence is a little demeaning. This album by Mahavishnu was entirely composed by McLaughlin himself. So this album would not be possible withouth him. A lack of knowledge behind the music.

I don't think the 1-start mark is correct on this review:
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=925

the reviewer, in his short review, has nothing against this record and the few words he writes about it are positive ones.

It's a common error to click 1 instead of 5 or the opposite... loserboy is one of the most experienced reviewers here but that one reported should be among their first to be submitted and he might have confused. To be checked.

EDIT: all this conversation should be moved to the Reviews Discussion thread but my computer is f**king slow and I'll do it later. Confused

EL Edit - As the subsequent posts all appeared to boil down to a misunderstanding, I took the liberty of simply removing them.Wink

Someone named MrMan 2000 is filling the front page with Queensryche reviews. It makes us look like ... well you know.

Yeah, but, as reviews go, they don't look too bad. Just a sign that we collectively need to write more.

Being more vicious

Quote This is a magnificent sample of how a drumless album must be. A remarcable album with great instrumentation and vocal arrangements, but what makes this one a real masterpiece is the fact that there are no words in Histories Sans Paroles, plus the mellotron.

This review is 40 words long

not only too short, but does nothing of substance. (amazingly enough, 'stories without words' [or the like] have no words)

I understand that everybody has its favorite bands, but when it comes to reviewing, I think someone should (at least) try to be as objective as can be. This reviewer, OPETHGUITARIST (???) (maybe just a fan) is obviously writing good reviews for the bands he's in, and NOT writing reviews, but some phrases about the bands he dislikes, in which they look like some pathetic musicians that will never reach the high level of his intelligence or his favorite bands' musical knowledges. I've met these kind of "blind fans" that are jalous of others' popularity (I'm not talking anout pop/dance bands, of course) and every time comes to somebody that makes great music and also have success, they give a lot of "arguments", just to convince you that their favs are the great bands ever. I personally don't like Opeth and I cannot see the progressive in their music, but it's just my problem, I'm not writing bad reviews about them, or trying to convince anybody that their music is stupid.

Neu! - Black Forest Gateau

now this one is started with 'I have not heard it ...' - for a compilation this might not be a problem but the text closes with a request for a prohibited action - am I right?

Great cover indeedLOL, but the review must go, especially on account of that last sentence.

unfortunately I cannot modify a review which does not have a forum ID, so it's had to be removed.

It contains wrong information, he's not Anderson who has really funny accent in the hare. Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond told the story, so Anderson would not be a great radio comedian, maybe Jeffrey would :)

Might be best in such cases (where it's a factual issue) to drop a friendly PM to the reviewer .

Not a really bad review, but it looks like it's written as a response to Certif1ed's Watershed review.

Seems also a bit out of place to me. While he mostly complains how the band is not prog and we shall all avoid the noise, he rarely describes the music.. second, sometimes it becomes slightly offending..

^ I'm becoming a little frustrated at people's tendencies to one- or five-star reviews to make a point. The review Luke mentions is offensive because it explicitly states other reviewers don't know what they're talking about. That's against the guidelines. And it spoils the site.

I do wish the writers of these extreme reviews would have enough courage to consider why they differ from the majority, and to at least offer that reason as part of the explanation. Apropos of another thread, this is why it's very important not to be carried away with ratings, and to read the reviews.

Thank you - I was going to say the same thing.

Without wishing to appear more biased than I perhaps already do, this review mentions the music consistently - which is better than some of the positive reviews in many ways.

Yes, it's a bit of a rant, but it's a specific rant - and the comparison to Metallica is a very valid one that I wish I'd thought of when I wrote my review - what, indeed, is so different.

Best thing is to laugh it off - there will no doubt be a few others like it (and worse, for sure), but I think we know already which direction the wind is blowing for this album...
