Another interesting album, also released a few months ago: http://www.myspace.com/artmetalband
(I may have posted this on some of the previous pages ... but IMO these bands can not be promoted too much ...) |

Wow, how strange that it just happened to feature one of my favourite virtuoso guitarists, Mattias IA Eklundh, (in fact, that has jogged my memory and he deserves a mention in the Best Player: Speed/Technique thread in General Music Discussions) as well as Jonas Hellborg, an absolutely genius bass player, plus Jens Johansson and Anders Johansson (both of former Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force band fame If my memory serves me correctly), although have not heard of the other 2 guys. Shame they only listed one track, but indeed an interesting one it was. Edited by HughesJB4 - February 03 2008 at 09:30 |

Woa, odd that this thread just died for a while. Surely there is heaps more to say about Tech/Extreme Prog metal!

Speaking of Tech/Extreme prog bands, I just got Fortress today, and I wasn't sure what I would get into, having never heard Protest The Hero before, and I must say within one track I was already hooked
Excellent album IMO.

I was reading Mike's quote of one of your posts on the top of this page and if you like Spastic Ink and Spiral Architect you really need to check out Twisted Into Form.

I just recently saw BTBAM and Opeth on ProgNation08, and I find it so suprising how a band like BTBAM can be so tech and sound so great live (although Tommy's growls I find to be a bit better on the album). Paul's "Selkies" solo was dead on, not one mistake. As a matter of fact I didn't find a single flaw in any of the music. Opeth was amazing as well.
Anyone else see BTBAM recently? Has anyone seen the perform "Colors" in its entirety?

Who knows the Swiss band Coroner? I don't really know the band, but they are said to be similar to Mekong Delta and Voivod.

Reason Continuo Renacer isn't catching on, is you can't seem to find their 2005 release anywhere. Tried eBay, Amazon, tower, their record label site (store section under construction), nothing on their myspace, gemm.com draws a blank..
My usual avenues
