I'll try to get up early but 3:30 in the morning is a bit too early so I'll probably end up watching the rerun.

NASCAR really oughta make a better effort to get these qualifying runs in. Shame to see John Andretti and Jeff Green get the shaft after both being in the top 10 in practice while Michael Waltrip backs his car into the wall and gets saved by rain. Hmph.

As for NASCAR I feel kind of bad I have fallen soo out of that. I used to watch it every Sunday and now I havnt seen a race in like 2 years ( a full one)
YES! It is Australian qualifying. Oh man I am so excited for this season to begin. Edited by JJLehto - March 14 2008 at 23:02 |

Yay for the Interwebs, because without that I could not have watched F1, Rally or MotoGP.
NASCAR is for rednecks. |

No! Kubica had the pole and he blew it. It was an epic slide....but still.
He will win a race this year, he keeps getting better. Edited by JJLehto - March 15 2008 at 00:26 |

Yeah the fact that Kubica was still on the front row after that slide is incredible, the removal of traction control definitely seems to be paying off for the fans as the cars are really unstable (by F1 standards) and therefore more entertaining.

Hurrah!

Well IMO NASCAR is not the same it was. I cant explain how...but it just dosnt do the same for me anymore.
I swear all the changes have killed it for me.
And a nice calm day for me. Drive back to PA, watch the 12 hrs of Sebring and later Australia GP

Qualy for those with memory laps:
1. HAMILTON McLaren 3. KOVALAINEN McLaren 4. 5. HEIDFELD BMW 6. TRULLI Toyota 7. ROSBERG Williams 8. COULTHARD Red Bull 9. VETTEL 10. BARRICHELLO Honda 11. ALONSO Renault 12. BUTTON Honda 13. NAKAJIMA Williams 14. WEBBER Red Bull 15. RAIKKONEN Ferrari 16. FISCHELLA Force India 17. BOURDAIS Toro Rosso 18. SUTIL Force India 20. SATO Super Aguri 21. PIQUET Renault Anyone else surprised by how competative the Honda's were? A month ago I wouldnt have thought they could get into the second session, let alone challenge for the top 10! Kimi's going to be exciting tomorrow. BTW, I dont remember F1 cars being this on the edge the last time we were without TC 10 years ago, and they had less downforce then. |

Well that was an interesting race, driver mistakes were definitely punished. I wasn't expecting so many retirements though, it's been a while since we saw such as small number of finishers.

I couldn`t see the race sadly, but now i read just a few cars completed the 57 laps.
So Hamilton hits first and his principal rivals (Ferrari, only scored 1 with Kimi), nice podium i love to see Heidfield there he is a very talented driver, and also not bad debut of Bourdais, a couple of points in his first race is not bad.

Bourdais should have got more points, he was ahead of Alonso and Kovalienen until his engine gave up on him. It seems that this years Ferrari engine is currently very poor since 3 of 4 in the race failed.

WOW what a race!
That was one of the most chaotic races I've ever seen.
And Lewis Hamilton just sat up front all day ahead of the chaos...what a boring win.
But that was one amazing race. Only 6 cars finished. In his F1 debut Bourdais was running in 4th place until his engine died. Barichello had a podium until he got himself disqualified Kimi had an amazing race going until he flew himself straight off the track And in this race there were NO Schumacher's in it. Anyway, I am really impressed with Kovalainen and Kubica I am really pulling for them to get some wins. Edited by JJLehto - March 16 2008 at 14:39 |

Actualy, its the same engine as last year, and the year before that, and their are 6 of them (Force India run Ferrari's as well). Still, 3 possibly 4 failures is an alarming number for them. Gutted for Bourdais, that was an excellent drive from him. Impressive race, its good to see the drivers really having to work the cars hard now, as it should be. I think this is the lowest number of finishers since Monaco 97. |

I agree, it is great to see them really fighting with these cars.
Personally, I think this season will be even better than last years |
