Actually, now thinking a divide and conquer strategy:
Pedal-steel appreciation thread (which I actually have an unnatural appreciation for to the point that I own a pedal-steel)
Western-Swing appreciation thread (Bob Wills, Spade Cooley...)
Johnny Cash appreciation thread
Willie Nelson appreciation thread (hey check out those old-school chord changes on Stardust)
Not that far off from some topics here since there was a thread about the Eagles latest release not too long ago.
Let's face it people, anyone who would visit this site in the first place (at least if they're my age) probably has extremely numerous and eclectic or not so eclectic musical interests

I'm not much into country but I do collect instrumental pedal steel records, I have a few.
It was also a popular instrument in central Africa. Edited by Easy Money - February 22 2008 at 22:38 |

Exactly how do you get your computer to do that cool upside question mark thing. I want it! Its time for the english language to get with the double question mark thing, and I have felt that way for a long time dammit !!! P.S. Don't tell me it involves turning your keyboard upside down because I just tried that. Edited by Easy Money - February 22 2008 at 22:45 |

much Progressive Country is simply country music that progressed past the most traditional forms, some you and others mentioned like Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Gilmore, Alvin Crow |

OK, so as mentioned am not laughing. Particuarly wrt pedal-steel. This particular instrument has been a thorn in my side since Cochise, Juicy Lucy, not to mention the Byrds. Ranks right up there with the Mellotron as one of my all-time favorite instruments, although obviously wrong for this site, but heh, we're in some general music forum. Problem being that I can PLAY a Mellotron. User interface on the pedal-steel is a bitch.
Other, copy/paste works pretty well to get that funky upside down ? mark ¿Que gemelos?

Okkervil is okay, far too overrated by pitchfork.

I avoid Pitchfork like the plague. Black Sheep Boy is their only really great album.

Word!
Even is hip-hop isn't your taste, it's hard to give credit to artist like Madvillain and J Dilla for their creativity and innovation.

I wouldn't dismiss Nas so easily. He might not have done anything of interest in over a decade (or so I've heard), but his debut is still pretty good - if you manage to ignore some of the dodgy gangsta rap-esque lyrics. It has very little to do with the current mainstream hip-hop scene.
Then again, it might just be me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKjj4hk0pV4 |

I enjoy every type of music. I'm extremely open minded about things, and I must say, I LOVE hip-hop especially Run DMC. There little fusion of rock and rap with Aerosmith was... something else i swear. Really good.
