^ You should put that in the avant thread. Really has nothing to do with post rock or metal in the slightest.

Superb album though, one of my favorites in that genre of jazz metal.

Just got an album from Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia. I've heard great things, getting ready to be blown away!

I finally picked up Sigur Ros's Heima DVD. Big%20smile

I'm just kind of previewing it now.... and this is easily THE best sounding, best looking concert DVD I have ever seen.

^^ that good? ive always wanted to see post rock performed live, but have been kinda tentative to actually go. i cant help but picturing me being lulled to sleep.
Im still kicking myself for this but i passed on seeing explosions in the sky in ann arbor a while back, which is only like 15 minutes from my house.

Oooh, bad call!  LOL

I haven't seen EitS live, but I've heard it's pretty intense.  The best post-rock band I've seen live was Mono.  They put more into the music with their own bodies than any other band I've seen.  They could build a song from near silence all the way up until there were kids on the floor holding their ears.  I just closed my eyes and let the music take over at that point.

When I saw Isis in a small club in Richmond, the music was so loud (in a good way) that I was almost convinced it was lifting me off the ground.

Post rock is loud and violent when it wants to be, and usually really great to watch.

Sigur Ros uses a lot of visuals, and often have a projection screen across the front of the stage.

I don't think you'd be in any danger of falling asleep!

^ good call. A friend of mine who got my tickets to the Tool Isis show ( how i hate him) said almost the same thing, tho it was at a huge outdoor theater not a club. I am now commencing a net-wide search for post bands on tour in my area sometime this spring.

I know Russian Circles is on tour, They're playing a club in pittsburgh next weekend, and I'm totally going.  The tour is also going through Marquette and Detroit (I have no idea how close those are to ann arbor Embarrassed)

Yeah, I first saw Isis on the Tool tour and they were awesome, but I don't think the arena is their style.  They were much better in a place where their sound could shake the foundations.

Marquette almost as far away from me as georgia... tho its in the same state Wink. 10 hours or so, so i think ill try to make it to the Detroit show, hopefully at Harpo's or a smaller venue like it.
But i think i might go to the show in cleaveland, or another Ohio show, as thats where i go to school

All of these bands are coming to Austin around the same time, which should I see

Pelican
Russian circles
Kayo Dot
God is an astronaut

Well, Pelicans coming in April, the other three bands are all coming march14-16. Pelican is a must see, and is my highest priority. I'm thinking of seeing KD at five, then jumping on over to see RC as at 8, but I dont know how much they're gonna cost, or whether or not I they will even let me in if they're at bars.

Nice!

I've heard Austin is a great town for seeing shows.  Pelican and Russian Circles are definitely good ones to see, but I haven't seen the other two.  I bet they rock, though!

RC has a freakin great live show.  They make a lot of sound for just 3 guys.

I heard.

Ithink both Kayo Dot and Russian circles are playing on the weekend of south by southwest, our second most famoust music  fest behind austin city limits. This may be a good or bad thing...

Anyone going to the festival? I think Chipacah and I are the only people in hear who even live in Texas, but I figure I might as well ask.
