Mainstream music is always bad.

I like some underground Hip Hop, I don't like any emo music at all though.

Prog isn't the be all and end all though, quite suprised that no prog has experimented with hip hop at all really.

Why not? Emo is a stupid term that could be used to describe anything.

Vocalists in old (real) Emo bands very seldom had high-pitched voices, though.

And only god(if such a being exists) knows why I left Dälek out of that post.... Negro Necro Nekros is amazing!

This thread has all kinds of bad vibes in it.

Of the emo music I've heard (including a lot of emo bands that pass through a local venue in town), I haven't really enjoyed any of it. I don't have much knowledge regarding the genre, but what I do know isn't for me. Rap, on the other hand, has plenty to love. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique (if I feel like being really freaked out), and even Kanye are among a lot of great sounds going on in rap today.

If you only listen to the mainstream, you're going to miss out on a lot of stuff. And if you completely ignore the mainstream out of elitism, then you'll also miss out on a whole lot of stuff.
