Haha, I can just picture Jody in Tool t-shirt, sleeves rolled all the way up to show the tats, and black metal blasting in the background, cradling his DS as he enjoys a few hours of Phantom Hourglass in all its cell-shaded glory. |
You want an even funnier picture?
A few months ago I wanted to play something on DS but was bored with the games I had.I asked my son if he had anything good I could play, and he loaned me a DS game of his.I looked at it in his hand and laughed and laughed and laughed. He said..."Dad,just give it a chance,it's a great game".I grudgingly started playing it,got hooked, and played it every day for almost two months.
The game,you ask?
Pokemon Diamond
I sh*t you not. |
"Hey dad, I thought you said Pokemon was lame."
"Go to your room."

For Christmas my dad got a N64 off ebay with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina. The amount he's played that game I sometimes wonder who the gift was for. I haven't played any other Zelda games so I can't vote.

First off...
Ocarina of Time is simply the greatest video game in the history of gaming.
Therefore, I chose not to put that one on.
So, I just borrowed Twilight princess from my homeslice, just to keep my loyalty to the game, and I'm quite liking it, 3rd best IMO, a step below The windwaker.
A link in the past is a pre gaming revolution classic, four sword legend was kind of a salute to it, but was pretty much the joke of the gaming world that year. Majoras mask was very disapointing to me, no Hyrule, no Zelda, and a scary looking moon man. The Windwaker is my second favirote, hated ny many fans, because of the graphics though, it's story line is almost as epic as ocarina.
Of course I havent finished twilight princess, but it kind of pissed me off when I had to fly all over hyrule to get the fused shadows, and then get it thrown away the very second you have them all.
Thoughts? |
Although 95% of people would agree with you, including me, I believe it deserved that title in the 90's.
In the 2000's my nominations go to
Resident Evil 4- almost absolute perfection, and my pick for best of 2000's. The over the shoulder 3rd person shooters of today owe a lot to this game, including such greats as Gears of War.
Halo- it re-invented console first-person shooters. Online multiplayer took off on consoles because of this game.
Half-Life- For it's interactive cut-scenes and inventive gameplay with realistic havok real world physics. Plus it branched out into Counter-Strike, and Team Foretress as well.
God of War- Taking button mashing action games to a level that is more than just an excuse for a combo-attack game.
Metroid Prime- For it's beautiful atmospheric enviroments and gameplay that truly makes you believe you are alone on a dangerous planet.
Grand Theft Auto- Although it's premise may be controversial it basically invented the 'go anywhere and do anything' sandbox gameplay.
Though some more recent games are also have a fair chance for best game of 2000's...
Bioshock- Although it may be too early to tell, this game obviously has a lot going for it. Engaging storyline, fresh and original art-deco art style, extremely scary and realistic characters and sounds in already extremely frightenening atmosphere (and ive played resident evil 4) of course what do you expect from the guys that brough you System Shock on the PC.
Mario Galaxy- How long has it been since a truly great platformer has come out? Well, really not since Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64. That game basically re-invented the platformer with perfect controls, a perfect camera, and just plain fun as hell gameplay. This game takes that perfect time tested gameplay and turns it on its head. Have you ever seen a game where you run full circle around planets and planetoids without ever having to adjust the camera, and having zero gravity? If you own a wii, get this game, please God get this game. FORGET mario party, rayman raving rabbits, and movie licenced games... they suck!
...there may be a couple others, but really these are the only two I think deserve to be listed in the runnings.
Maybe I should just make my own post about this topic...

1 Chronicles 13:7-9
Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.

Yes, but it's illegal to do so if you don't own the cartridge. You wouldn't have any trouble finding it on a torrent site, but that's illegal.

Buy a Wii (if you can get one) and download the game.. Or buy a used gamecube and buy the version.. or buy an old n64 and buy the game... That game is so absolutely fantastically wonderful that if you manage to play it in a toaster, it would be worth it.

Whats true about a link to the past is that it's basically as dark as Ocarina.

1) A Link to the Past 2) The Windwaker 3) Ocarina of Time 4) Twilight Princess
I liked TP but it was a bit linear and the the dark world bug thing was annoying (Metroid Prime 2, anyone?) Ok it wasn't as bad as Prime 2, but still I enjoyed the light world much more, mainly cuz I could see.I dunno, I need to play it again to make a decision, as school made it take forever to play thru the first time.
