I think thats the beauty of it, when viewed as one continuous piece it works perfectly starts with mellow piano slowly picks up on Tomb Song and then fully hits the climax on The Progress, the Machine is in a similar vane but begins to bring things back down, The Wasteland brings a moment of ambient peice and brings the piece back to where it started with the piano The Water starts the second build up but in a more folky way than the first, The Tree continues this same build up after a short pause but never fully climaxes, istead it dropps off into The Hym, somthing completly different and calming.
So when viewed as a single body of work its a lot like a GYBE! song
... Wow, I see a review coming on

My copy of "Blessed are the Bonds" was waiting for me when i got home! I've already heard most of it on the bands music myspace (mp3's really don't do it justice) but, wow... beautiful. Just thinking about this album compared to music i've actually paid for before... :D
I also agree about the first two pieces on the album. This certianly deserves a review. Considering all that went into the packaging along with being so generous as to deliver the thing completely for free... It still amazes me. |

Everytime the Pax cecilia are mentioned, big discussions come from it. Good, I think they have a huge future of them. Strangely enough, I've found myself almost exclusively listening to...Somewhere along the highway
You are there
Bath, and I just got leaving your body map
F A infinity
Laurentians atoll
along with a bit of Zeuhl and Kraut, I've been listening to those almost exclusively.

Bit slow seeing this. Fantastic band, was listening to them well before I was listen to much prog. I was really wrapped up with the metal scene at the time and for some time these guys were one of my favourite BM orientated bands. In the later years they picked up a more mature sound, tend towards what some would label as post-black metal. Ruben if you are interested in getting to know the band a little better send me a PM ;) Still need to pick up my act and purchase their '06 album. |

Hello, I just found this site, looks like a good place to discuss music of almost any genre, but post rock/post metal seems to be what they call what I like to listen to and some of the bands that are being brought up are some of my favorite bands so I figured I would share what I listen to and see if any of you would like something.
I started reading the posts right where you start talking about *shels but then I jumped to the end so if I bring anything up that you were just talking about then you know why. I'm not sure if any of you like ambient music as well but I will list them. Top bands/artist for me (at least at the moment) Pelican, Mogwai, Eluvium, July Skies, Cult Of Luna, Isis, Irepress. Some bands/artists that some of you might like that I have not listed and didn't see: Mare, Rosetta, Belegost, Because Of Ghosts, Nadja, Battlefields, Benoit Pioulard, Mono, Helios, Jesu, Angel Eyes, Agalloch, Laura, Lahto, Aereogramme, Aether, Callisto, Crippled Black Phoenix(has the bassist from Mogwai), Ef, Foxhole, Giant, Grails, Gregor Samsa, Hammock, Jakob, Library Tapes, Xeltrei, Mouth Of The Architect, Red Sparowes(bassist from was a founding member), Saxon Shore, Stars Of The Lid, Tides, Transmission0, Wolves In The Throne room, Tim Hecker. For those that are looking for "post-metal" I would recommend Rosetta, Giant and Mare. for those that are looking for "post-rock" I would recommend July skies, Eluvium and Mono. If you like *shels and The Pax Cecilia I think you would like Irepress a lot. Tell me if you like any of those bands/artists. If you already know of the bands I have listed I could possibly list some more but I think Those are my favorites that have been tagged with those genres. |

^^ Welcome!
Yep - a lot of the bands you mentioned are already favorites around here. Many on that list of yours that you haven't listened to are must haves: Mono, Agalloch, Laura, Grails, Jakob, Red Sparowes, Saxon Shore. And yes, Irepress is a pretty good band as well. |

Welcome to the archives RedSunRisin88 !
That list of bands is quite impressive. You really know your stuff. ![]() Most of the bands you mentioned are already in the archives. Slowly, but surely, most of the bands in your list that are missing in the archives will get added. |

Hellz yeah RSR88 !
That's a fine list there, full of many things I will need to check out. Your list is pretty extensive, but it's missing one band that's near the top of my post-rock list: Have you heard 65daysofstatic? |

I agree with your musical tastes muchly.
I kind of have a beef with Rosetta and Irepress. Rosseta takes too much work to listen to (listening to two songs at the same time. Irepress is too techinical, too much guitar, not enough emotion. Otherwise, I seriously like/Love all the other bands.
Maudlin of the well!!!!!!
One of my favirote bands ever as of now, Igor your right, they're absolutely addictive!

Actually I have listened to them I actually typed listed but they do look similar. I also mis-typed about red sparowes I actually wanted to say that the bassist from Isis was a founding member of the band. I need a new guitar.
