Yes!
Pelicans a better band, but Geisterstadt is bordering as a masterpiece, read my review!
Post rockers, please dont leave it to Igor, GS, or I to do these reviews. Postmetal is very underated here, and it needs to noticed.

Damn, I knew I was forgetting someone.
CHAM reviews too, four guys, hundreds of albums. People we need help.
Strangely, I have been listening to lots of Cult of Luna, I listened to somewhere along the highway three times in the last 48 hours, now I'm listening to salvation.

I've been on a break for quite some time now. I haven't added nor reviewed any artists for about a month now...
But I've been discovering new music so I don't mind. ![]() I'll get back to reviewing soon, but I won't start with Post-Rock / metal. |

Which do you prefer? Salvation is a borderline masterpiece in my eyes. I felt the latter was good, but nothing new. |

I can review the few post metal albums I own, I still need to listen to some of them a few more times but give me a few weeks and I can get a few reviews written. Unfortunately it won't be any of the albums in the list on the previous page. |

Post metal reviews are good in general.
Bagel, I'm prefering somewhere along the highway right now, more deep and emotional. I havent listened to Salvation nearly as much though, so that may change.

I have few issues with Post-Metal (hardly bearable vocals + lack of melodies), hence only few bands may count on high ratings from me

Thought I should help out, so I did a Grayceon review.
I would like to do a Pax Cecilia review, but their album never came which I ordered in October. I just sent my mail address in again, hopefully I get it this time. |

Howdy post rock/metal fans! (as you can see, i'm new here)
Anyways, i just wanted to stop in an confess my adoration for post rock/metal :) I just recieved Rosetta's "The Galilean Satellites" and although i was i bit dissapointed (i feel like they rely on effects way more then any post rock band i've heard so far) the wonderful combination of Itinerant & Ross 128 alone was more then worth the cost of the album. I plan on writing a review soon to elaborate a bit more. With "TGS" i also received the latest album (North Star Deserter) from Vic Chesnutt that features A Silver Mt. Zion and is worth picking up for the excellent worth of ASMZ alone: (honestly, i don't see the appeal of VC's singing) http://www.amazon.com/North-Star-Deserter-Vic-Chesnutt/dp/B000QFBVHK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1199320769&sr=1-1 Also, i recently found a remarkable live aud. recording of Vic w/ASMZ over at Dimeadozen that is amazing. (some of the best music i've heard from ASMZ yet) Edited by Dominic - January 02 2008 at 20:03 |

Welcome to the thread. A select few of us come hear and talk about post rock/metal... mostly metal.
I have trouble with Rossetta also, but I'm more into post metal for the music and not the vocals.

Igor, you should check out Khoma (or Koma). They're like a post-metal band, but without the growling! The singer reminds me of Daniel Gildenlow, Matt Bellami and the guy from Oceansize. The music is way more melodic as well often veering into post-rock territory. Check out their album called "The Second Wave"
http://www.myspace.com/khoma Check out the song "One of us Must Hang" ![]() |
