Say Art Rock and they will get an idea, tell them to come to this site and they will be more confused than before they asked.

Ahem, Prog does not make a lot of sense but we can not change it now. I personally do not use the term much.

You use the winking tongue way, way too much. And when did you become a PR!? I should start writing more reviews, I'm starting to feel left out...

Prog is the creation of very moving music which gets the goosepimples going, shivers down your spine and all the other emotions you can think of.

Then totally shag it up with some crap drumming.

Think Magenta - Seven, Galahad - Empires, Salva - Left to Burn among a lot of others.

My answer is simple: Prog=Art. Other music is just music, and prog is not music, is art.

Prog is a pretty little flower that smells really bad.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

It has multiple definitions:

1. Forward-thinking, rock-based music
2. A term to describe bands who work within the styles of of the bands in definition 1, without necessarily progressing things themselves

it's really about as simples as that.

I would go against Kibble_Alex's advice and strap them to a bench on the side walk and give them at least a 5 min speech on progCool
