Holy crap! awesome! Also, about Maudlin of the Well, I actually like them better than Kayo Dot. |

I got the new *shels EP! Cant wait to listen to it!
Anyways, everyone should try a listen at Tomydeepstego. Weird name, but it's completely from the grindy from the usual sludyness of post metal. More optimistic, and... happier than Nuerosis and Isis, but with the same intensity!

So I've sort of developed a backlog of new stuff that I still need to listen to. Mainly because I've acquired a lot in the past couple of weeks, but I've been wrapped up in Precambrian (freakin great! ), as well as the new Dillinger Escape Plan album (yes, I still like them, going to see them live next week, you'll get over it).
But I still have all of these yet to listen to: Lent0 Pelican-March into the Sea EP - Pink Mammoth Single Tomydeepestego *shels - Laurentian Atoll hopefully I'll get to them all this weekend! |

I think it's worth posting Mike's review of an album I think is quite impressing/powerful
I just recently got it, and still absorbing it, but this is some good "stuff" for those of us who are hooked on the sound.
DIRGE — Wings of Lead Over Dormant Seas
Review by MikeEnRegalia Special Collaborator Progressive Metal Specialist — First review of this album — This is my favorite Post Metal release of 2007 so far ... it's very diverse, there's a lot of noise, feedback and droning sounds but also melody and traces of "conventional" song structures. Vocals are "typically" Post Metal, but quite accessible and they match the music perfectly. Both musicianship and production leave very little to be desired, and even considering that this album clocks in at 120 minutes and the last track alone is 60 minutes long it never gets boring for me ... they never draw out a part for too long and there's always something new coming up. It is! Highly recommended!
The album is very lush and dense. Very atmospheric, but still powerfull and quite doomy. The title track (all 60 minutes of it) is my favorite part. Its very psychedelic and never really quite boring. Its one of the very few 40+ minute songs that keeps me interested throughout the whole song. The only problem is the time. I've always had problems with double albums so I don't listen to it as much as I would like to, but that's just me and still I find it highly enjoyable. |

Yeah, I've got lots of great stuff recently... Lent0 is great, Tomydeepestego is good, but not my favorite... just kind of bland I have Dirge, but I haven't listened to it enough yet to make a judgement, but the real gem is *Shels - Laurentian Atoll. I love the extended version of 'Water', and their light dabbling in harsh vocals (sure to anger some *Shels fans...) I've also been listening to the new Sigur Ros, and some old school Cave In |
