() is definitely not my favorite Sigur Ros release.  It seems bland to me and most of the songs don't really go anywhere the way the songs on Agaetis Byrjun do.  If you're not a big fan of (), but you like the style, get Agaetis Byrjun.

Its pretty hard to digest for a first post-rock album. Just ask The T! Tongue

The album in itself is wonderful, but it took me a lot of time to know its true potential. You'll need to have patience to enjoy it since its really slow and tamed, but thanks to that the album ends up being plain beautiful. So don't be scarred away if you don't like it the first time around.

You should've read my review of Saxon Shore and started your Post-Rock journey with them.Wink

Sigur ros was one of my only options cham.

I actually really like the first couple of songs, I havent been through the entire album yet, but it seems very very atmospherical. Thats the way I like my music!

well you probably will like the second half which is more of the same, except a bit darker (especially the last track which is intense)

Untitled 8 might just be the greatest post-rock song of all time.
(well, Hoppipolla is my favorite, but not entirely a post-rock song in my opinion)

Well, they're called "Untitled 1" to "Untitled 8" but some people write in the unofficial names that the band gave them insteadWink

ah Sigur Ros, they were the first post rock band I ever listened to, I started with ( ) and Takk and had one of those 'I should have been listening to these guys for ages' moments. Agaetis Byrjun is my favourite album by them I love the dark feel to it.

I really should listen to them more I don't think I've listened to one of thier albums for at least 3 months now. Embarrassed

Okay, it's rude to say I dislike them, I like some songs, but they never clicked on me wholly, I never enjoyed them that much...

Can't stand Sigur Ros!

I don't know if some of these have been mentioned before but among my favorite (and not quite as well known as say GYBE or EITS) post-rock/metal bands are:

Caspian
Cue
Ektroverde
Grails
Irepress
Jakob
La Zona
Laura
Migala
Mono
Omega Massif
Russian Circles
Saxon Shore
September Malevolence
Sickoakes
Triosk
Tulsa Drone
Yndi Halda

Many others too.

I can't measure that, but to say that they're my second favorite Post-Rock band it's definitely something. Calling their music epic is an understatement! Go get it!

http://www.myspace.com/yndihalda

My recommendation? Listen to We Flood Empty Lakes.

Interesting note:
If you write  enjoyeternalbliss  next to myspace.com instead of yndihalda you'll get my friend's myspace which is named after his love for the album. He wrote some reviews under the name of Invader Prog .
