As an Indians fan, I must say that I enjoyed the gnats. That was some of the worst hitting with RISP that I've seen in a long time, so I'm very thankful that the Indians finally decided to win. I haven't been that stressed watching a baseball game since the '97 World Series.
Hopefully Cleveland will win on Sunday. I'm not sure if I can handle three more games worth of Frank TV commercials.....

Ugggg....I can't believe they wouldn't call the game through those bugs; it was quite obvious that the team wasn't able to play through those bugs, and the umps should have called a "bug delay" or postponed the game or something. The yanks had the misfortune of having a pitcher who'd never been subjected to anything like while the bugs were at their thickest, and it cost them the game.

this is baseball........ there's no bug delay in baseball
it affected the batters as well as the pitcher...
oh yeah.. .that is why home field is so important.... sure
that happens all the time and the Indians had seen it.

Not really, they simply adopted a "Don't swing" policy, and it served them pretty damn well.

wonder how the NY media is going to try to blame A-Rod for this probable latest playoff failure....
could quote myself back in June or July when this thread
started.... the Yanks simply don't have the pitching to win.... the
Indians took the best the Yanks had tonight ... and matched it with
their number 2 starter. Built to make the playoffs.. .and fail
miserably when they face quality pitching everynight.. from starters to
middle relief to closers. The Yanks have what....8 hits in 20
innings... half of those solo home runs.

I'm looking forward to seeing a young, energetic, and hopefully powerful rotation next year in Wang, Kennedy, Hughs, and Jaba, plus Andy holding it down with his veteran-ness.

Well it isn't like there was much to swing at. And the Indians pitchers didn't seem to have any problems. FWIW, I was fortunate enough to see about 100 Indians games this year (before I moved), and I don't recall seeing a single gnat the whole season. In fact, I think the only reason it was a problem was because the wind stopped blowing...

FWIW,
I was fortunate enough to see about 100 Indians games this year (before
I moved), and I don't recall seeing a single gnat the whole
season. In fact, I think the only reason it was a problem was
because the wind stopped blowing...

so much for my home field advantage theory....
just like the rest of the series... the Indians look loose and able to
deal with such things.. .the Yanks wear the harness of a team that
everyone just expects to win because they wear the pinstrips.
That mystique is gone... for the players... shame their fans or even
the public don't see it. The Yanks are simply a good team with Nintento
like stats.. but not built to win in the playoffs....

just noticed the Angels are beating Boston.... good return on what.... $120 million for Dice K....
Pay me half of that and I could go 15-12 with that lineup... and fall behind in a playoff game.

I just don't like the look of the Sox... unless they can run Josh
out every night. That is why I went National League to win it
this year, even though I'm a fan of the AL... I think they were simply
playing better baseball. Though my pick to win the series.. the
Phillies are probably out tomorrow.

Red Socks 2 - 0, Manny Ramirez gave an impressive 3 men home run at the end of the ninth.
But they have to thank The kid who caught the ball on Manny Ramirez foul ball in the fifth inning, taking it out of the glove of Angels catcher, this allowed the third run for the Red Socks. 
He's the hero of the night.

Great day to be a Red Sox fan!
And Matsuzaka hardly got whooped, he just gave up 3 runs. Whooped is like Wang got in game 1. And my response to Matsu-sucka is simply one word. Igawa.
Yankees v Cleveland is on British TV this Sunday I would love seeing the Yankees with their $27 million half-season .500 pitcher get eliminated.
But Cleveland are probably the best team in baseball no shame loosing to them.

I believe that the Tigers might have had a game cancelled a few years ago because of bugs. When they were building Ford Field across the street from Comerica Park they caused a swarm of bugs to engulf Comerica Park. I can't recall if it ended up just being delayed or actually postponed but it was pretty nasty. I was pretty fortunate because I had been at the game the night before and there wasn't any bugs.
The Indians have been having a magical season all year with all of their come from behind wins (especially against the Tigers  ).
By the way, the Tigers have opened up their shortstop position for A-Rod so in case he is interested in coming to a town with a chance at the championship where he won't be crucified for an entire team collapse that spot is open for him. I imagine that if there is any chance of that Pudge won't be back next year since that would free up $10 million. Don't expect it to happen, but if the Yankees do complete their playoff collapse I am guessing Torre won't be back, and that they won't be too keen to spend the enormous amount of money that ARod will be asking for.

I found an article about it. They did play the game and it looks like there were no bug delays. The Tigers won that game too, so there is something to the home field advantage and bugs.
