In spite of the godawful More fool me, Selling England by the pound gets my vote. A trick of the tail is a close second, and that album actually contains my favourite Genesis track (Mad man moon). The lamb... gets third, before Nursery crimes, Foxtrot and Wind and Wuthering.

I'm sorry but I have to get this out of my system, and put all my favourite Genesis albums in order.. 1 obviously being the best..

1) Trick of the tail

2) The lamb lies down on Broadway

3) Wind and Wuthering

4) Foxtrot

5) ..and then there were three

6) Selling England by the pound

7) Duke

8) Seconds Out

9) Genesis live

10) Trespass

11) Nursey Crime

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

tough choice between Selling and Lamb, I'll go for the latter for the keyboards on colony on slippermen but then again the keyboards on cinema show are very cool.... impossible to choose, but I voted for lamb cause it's currently the underdog

Hey!!  What about Abacab!!??....................just kidding

1. Foxtrot

2. Nursury Cryme

3. Selling england by the Pound

4. Trespass

5. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

Although all these are so close I could rearrange them depending on my mood

P.S....Genesis needed filler tunes like More Fool Me(weak admittedly) and For Absent Friends(which I find as a charming little piece...c'mon guys...the song is soooo short.., how could it irritate ya that much?

Oops...forgot to finish my thought...they needed those tunes so they could continue to play while Peter was away putting on some bizarre outlandish outfit to fit the show during concerts

No, they didn't, but unfortunately, 'More Fool Me' became part of SEBTP's repertoire. Just for the record, during the sessions of SEBTP, Gabriel had come up with an idea for a prog ballad which was to be called 'Deja Vu'. Hackett revisited and widened it for his 'Genesis Revisited' album - with lead vocals by Paul Carrack - making it an almost 6 minute song. Let me tell you it's, in my opinion, a fantastic ballad, melancholy, reflective, emotional: it would have made a hell of an entry for SEBTP, after the splendour of 'Firth of Fifth'. In turn, 'More Fool Me' could have replaced any ballad from the Duke-to-We Can't Dance era.

The you have never heard Genesis really. The Peter Gabriel Genesis was an unbelievable era where the band was actually experimental, complex, eccentric, and well.....it just is really really good!! Buy any album on my list. They're all exceptional and the ones I listed had Peter Gabriel in the band. You cannot go wrong with one of those choices

I am surprised, thought that Nursery Crime was more "loved" that it is, I feel The Musical Box more than any other Genesis' song. But after all, it's just an opinion.
... and when they've given you their all, some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy, banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall ...

Out of the records on the list, I picked "Wind And Wuthering", cause I dug the earthy sound.  Of course, my FAVE Genesis disc isn't on the list (oh, irony!!!) It's "WE CAN'T DANCE".
Some world views are spacious, and some are merely spaced...
