I'll respect a steroid popper with some team loyalty more than I'll ever respect an avarice driven player like A-Rod who'd stab his team the back if the money is in it.

Royals sweep the Rangers. Not a bad way to spend a weekend.

yea..I heard if A-rod was to re-sign with the Yanks it'd be a $30 million a year deal.
.......Obviously I want him to stay as an athlete, but as a person no one needs 30 f*cking million dollars a year.

^ Or >$20 million a year for that matter.... I can't believe how overpaid some baseball players are. I can't be the only person who thinks the Ichiro contract was terrible. $19-$20 million a year for a leadoff hitter?!?! Now I know he always gets lots of hits, put up a very good average, and is a good basestealer, but that's absurd. Most power hitters don't even earn that much, the only two (off the top of my head) I can think of are Manny Ramirez and A-Rod. I don't want to know how much A-Rod will make if he opts out (which I think he will at the moment).

I don't see Bonds playing for anyone next year... or at least anyone wanting to pay what he will want. they are....but not for long the way both teams are playing...

Yea, I was optimistic but never thought the Yanks would make it. 2 and a half behind though....
And IMO Bonds has kept playing to break the record. I really hope he hits 756 sometime this year, then retires when the season is over and we're rid of him.

I still don't think the Yankee's have the pitching to do anything in ...even if they make the playoffs. There is a reason all that talent has come up short over the last few years.... good pitching ALWAYS beats good hitting. as far as Bonds... it will be a godsend for those who still love the game when he finally walks away into the sunset...and I hope the only time he sees the HOF is as a visitor. That I think will come to pass... many see Baseball as a part of Americana... and Bonds (and others of course) have been sticking their middle finger at it for years. History will have the final say on that I'm sure.

I sure hope so. McGwire wasn't inducted and I hope he never is.
And Bonds is going to break the most prestigious record of the Great American past time...
It's also a blow to people like A-rod and Ken Griffey jr. Those are 2 great players that, at least to my knowledge, have not really been charged with steroid use. But like you said, hopefully history will sort out the true greats.

hopefully history will and good point about those two... no exploding head and foot sizes... just naturally talented players (as Bonds was) who played the game right. Speaking of that.... .what do you think of Pujols. Remember how there were some questions around him last year... his numbers have dropped this year. He only has 4 more HR's than Chris Duncan.. .who... yes.. Chris Duncan hahhaha. I hope there is nothing to that.... I love Pujols.

yea, he's had 6 straight years of 30+ HR's and 100+ RBI's. His career batting avg is .330 thus far.
You know what I just realized. What happened to David Ortiz? Now HE is having a serious off year.

This is an excerpt from the lyrics of a song by Robert Calvert which describes my attitude towards baseball very much. The lines refer to cricket but might as well be applied to baseball too:
I love that leather-on-willow sound The smell of the freshly-mown ground You say that you think it's no fun To stand like a rock in the sun
Me, with my big cricket bat My whites and my cloth-covered hat You say it's so dull you could scream To stand like a rock on the green
But when that ball comes like it's fired from a gun And when I hit out and when I start to run And when I hear all those voices start to roar 'Cause I've just added a new number to the score
That's when I get an adrenalin rush, that's when I get an adrenalin rush.
The only problem I have is: I don't really get that adrenalin rush he speaks of.

one of these I need to find out just what the hell Cricket is about and this song sums it up for me
Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way I feel.
CHORUS:
Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.
Well, I spent some time in the Mudville Nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know I took some lumps when the Mighty Casey struck out.
So Say Hey Willie, tell Ty Cobb and Joe DiMaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
CHORUS
Yeah! I got it, I got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) It's gone and you can tell that one goodbye! couldn't resist that one...

Yanks ended up winning 16-8.
Every player on the team is just hitting great right now, it's like a bombardment when they get going.
