I can't remember if I posted in this thread yet.

I play a Rickenbacker bass, just like the one Geddy Lee used.

I'd love to have one like the Rick in my Avatar: That strip of binding on the top edge feels very uncomfortable under my forearm.

What I would really love to have is one of these....

The Spector Bass!

Even the lower-priced models are nice, but I went to Guitar Center and played one of

the Czech-Made Euro Basses (between $700-$1,200, from bolt-on to neck-through).

They are super light-weight and those contoured bodies make them the most comfortable basses ever.

For my tastes, Spectors are among the best, and I hope to purchase one very soon.

I play a Fender Strat and I love it, very fun guitar to play, but it doesn't exactly match my bands metal sound. I do though love PRS's.

I really love good acoustics though, and I especially like Ovations (probably because I own one).

Vantage guitars were made by Matsumoku, who also made Westone (and others). I have a couple of Westones which are great guitars but I wish I still had my Westone Thunder 1A. It was the first electric guitar I owned, about 25 years ago.

I'll keep an eye out for Westone now. Although not highly collectible, at least $$$ wise, the late 70 early 80s japanese electrics were very well made. Indeed, companies like Ibanez & Yamaha (I think) were pursued by American companies for patent violations on models that too closely resembled their own "name" guitars like the Strat & Les Paul. Once again, history proves that lawyers & lawsuits are never the best way to keep a corporation on top competitively. Consumers want value for their money, i.e. Quality. Which is what the American "standards" eventually did. But now, apart from snob appeal, they compete in a much crowded market.

My friend has one of the first ones with custom pink pickups!!!!

I can't find a picture of it, but Lifeson's candy apple red Strat with the mirrored pickguard is still the prettiest guitar I've ever seen.
