Well.....the British hero falls short.
In fact, I don't think he ever was really in the fight for first. Still, he did get his 9th straight podium to continue his best rookie season ever.

Congrats to Kimi who might be getting the handle of his car finally. Also Kubica on his 4th place finish, and Massa who came from the Pit to 5th.

Yeah, Hamilton never really had the car to go for the win today, and at last Raikkonen is finally showing his form, took him long enough.Tongue

Great Champ Car race from Toronto, Will Power wins another one, but Doornbos runs into Bourdais leaving three points sperating those three drivers.

Basically he lost his Tour victory and is now fighting legally to get it back. I don't think anyone knows when any kind of final solution will be reached...

Yea, well I knew about the legal battle  but last I ever heard it was in limbo  and then, I never heard of it again. Oh well.

And yea this season has been pretty exciting I thought. And as for 4 drivers fighting for it, looks to me like a certain young man is starting to get a good grip on it.

Its that time of the month again and its the European GP at the Nurburgring (should be German GP, but the ADAC (German motorsport federation) and the Hockenheim ring owners have had a bit of a pissing contest over the rights to the German GP name). Practice times:

1.  RAIKKONEN    Ferrari       1m33.339s
2.  HAMILTON     McLaren       1m33.487s
3.  MASSA        Ferrari       1m33.590s
4.  ALONSO       McLaren       1m33.637s
5.  SCHUMACHER   Toyota        1m33.668s
6.  TRULLI       Toyota        1m33.746s
7.  ROSBERG      Williams      1m33.845s
8.  BUTTON       Honda         1m33.880s
9.  HEIDFELD     BMW           1m34.146s
10. KUBICA       BMW           1m34.221s
11. WEBBER       Red Bull      1m34.235s
12. WURZ         Williams      1m34.264s
13. SATO         Super Aguri   1m34.357s
14. BARRICHELLO  Honda         1m34.411s
15. FISICHELLA   Renault       1m34.431s
16. KOVALAINEN   Renault       1m34.446s
17. COULTHARD    Red Bull      1m34.504s
18. DAVIDSON     Super Aguri   1m34.554s
19. SPEED        Toro Rosso    1m35.320s
20. LIUZZI       Toro Rosso    1m35.653s
21. SUTIL        Spyker        1m36.527s
22. WINKELHOCK   Spyker        1m37.319s

Christjan Albers has been ousted from Spyker as his sponsors have failed to pay up, so Winkelhock is in for at least this race and maybe Hungary as well, probably will be replaced for Spa though.

In that case, I say Hamilton will win.Wink Besides Nurburgring is supposed to be a track that favoures McLaren, though I think it will be pretty even.

Even though this is fairly obvious, I'll say it just for sh*ts and giggles:
Hamilton went from having a shot at the championship, to being the clear frontrunner
in half of his rookie season.

Funny, back when I started watching F1 I was SURE   JPM  was gunna be the next MS. That didnt pan out and I thought it HAD to be Alonso, I mean no one could touch him. Now Hamilton? Guess I shouldn't be so quick to crown dynasties....

Yeah, Alonso seems to have got a handle on the Bridgestones now so I dont think Hamilton is going to have an easy time of it at McLaren from now on (God, I cant believeI'm writting something like that about Alonso and a rookieShockedLOL)

Bit nasty for Hamilton in qualifying.  Lost his right front tyre due to a faulty wheel nut wrench and went straight into the tyre wall at a fair speed.  It appears that he is ok but he is in hospital for observation.  It's not clear that he'll race on Sunday but if he does he will be 10th on the grid as he hadn't put in a fast lap in final qualifying before his crash.Cry

Wow, sounds like he is probably gunna be alright though.

This might have a silver lining. If he dosn't race it'll close up the title fight, and if he does he will have a REAL challenge this race.

Looks like he'll probably race, but he'll havea real race like Alonso at Magny-Course. Should be interesting.LOL Raikkonen will probably win but I'm not counting out Alonso, who should have been on pole but got sideways at 130mph.

A really odd race that one.  Hamilton gains five places off the grid but then gets tagged and loses a rear tyre.  Gets back to the pits and out again but then aquaplanes off.  Keeps engine running and gets put back on the track for safety's sake; gets back on the lead lap under the safety car and then makes a daft tyre choice and gets lapped again.  Finally finishes ninth; no points but I bet he learnt a lot.

The British press were making fun of him and saying how the balloon has now burst for Hamilton; typical of our lack of support for our sportsmen.  The fact that this was the first race of the season where he wasn't on the PODIUM didn't seem to figure.  As far as they're concerned the fact that he wasn't on the podium this time means that he's no good.  Funnily enough he still finished the race; even after that horrendous crash in practice and he is still LEADING the championship.  Not bad for a rookie and I'm sure that he'll be on the podium again before the season is over.

Shame about Raikkonen's car.  He really doesn't have much luck; but then I remember the same problems with Keke Rosberg and car reliability.  I think that the Finnish style of driving is more aggressive and takes more out of the cars mechanically.

Hell of a race, Winkelhock leading after 4 laps by 20 seconds in the worst car on the grid had me in stitches, quite a debute. Its a shame Button lost it in the lake at turn 1 or we could still have had a britton on the podium, bad tyre call from Lewis, but it was down to a lack of experience, I noticed how he was the fastest man in the race from here on and would probably have won if it wasnt for the cut tyre and rain.

Dull Champ Car race from Edmonten (not often that I say that), just too fast a circuit with no long streights.
