Sometimes when Its been a long day and i´m pretty tired, I dont need something heavy to relax me. I´ll put in Ozric Tentacles or Mogwai. If i´m anxious or excited about an upcoming event. I´ll listen to sparatic, niose rock/ avant garde.
Do you have a mood for your prog? or...prog for your mood? Edited by fungusucantkill - July 04 2007 at 12:10 |

Morning: Usually Something not too heavy Jazz-rock/Symphonic like Weather Report, Gentle Giant, Yes, Soft Machine...
Mid-Day: Depends, but a bit more powerful stuff.
Evening: Eiter like Morning or mid-day. Depends on the day and the mood.
Of course it changes from day to day

I find that I cannot cope with King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra or Gentle Giant if I am in anyway slightly TENSE - I have to be relaxed to put them on, so some Tangerine Dream or Camel will soon put me in the right frame of mind.
I can listen to Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Pendragon or Genesis regardless of my mood
If I am particularily happy, I'll listen to Carptree.

I like to listen to Gentle Giant in the morning, I don't know why but it's really great (especially Tree Friends). Genesis is reserved for the end of the day before I finish my "shift" :)

The music I listen to dictates which mood I'm in...

That's right ! These last couples of days I listen to some Italian Prog (Nuova Era, La Torre Dell'Achimista, Finnistere, etc.) on my way to work, and some instrumental prog (Capharnaum (from Québec), Ozric Tentacles, etc.) when I'm coming back home. |

I go thru musical phases rather than emotional music needs. Right now I want thrash metal. Two weeks ago it was doom metal, the week after that I need Sigur Ros and Genesis. So I dunno. Basically I just know what I want and then I listen to it.

Not really moody as in emotional...I just feel like I'm in a mood to listen to a band.
Example: Oh man, I'm in a Yes mood! |

Glad to hear you can do it without drugs.
However, upon reflection seeing a shrink might not be a bad idea. They've come a long way since valium. |

For example, I've already received my marks from school.... they suck!! Logically it turned me down......
But then I explored my music files in my PC and started to listen "Song for Jeffrey" from Rock 'n' Roll Circus. I inmediately felt glad!! Hahaha........ yeah: sometimes prog (or music in general) definitely rules my mood....... xD |

Usually I can listen to anything, though after a loooong day usually non-demanding music helps. Also, when depressed it's always good to listen to some depressing music.
But other than that...

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |
