Damn
Have you heard In Utero? How anyone couldn't like that is beyond me.
I have seen many bands that are amazing listed here.
I really can't think of a band that I HATE because I normally find myself tapping my fingers to just about anything (I is a drummer)
Even those rap groups have some killin' drum beats.

Why would anyone hate Nirvana? What's so bad about them? Is it because Nirvana is too awesome for people to handle?
Anyone who is (well, was) good friends with Sonic Youth deserves a million clappies |

By the way, some rap is very good music, Skoojoo. Hell, I like some rap better than I like most prog. I used to hate rap, but I decided not to be ignorant and give some (alternative) rap a try, and I love it. Try something before you hate it. Never hate attack something you know very little about, (or be an elitist about it). Awesome post, BroSpence. |

Major props for the Danger Doom reference. "MC it like el Chupanibre, digest a group and sell the poop on eBay." plus, there is music in rap and an artform to sampling. |

i love that whole album. MF Doom is hilarious and very witty, and Meatwad's little bit is priceless. |

I dislike most rap, soul and country music, heavy metal (and the subgenres), so called "boy bands" and "Madonna wannabes" as someone put it, also dump and monotonous 3 chord rock (don't know what to call it, Status Quo kind of stuff). However, as I said I dislike "most" of the aforementioned genres, there are exceptions.
There are exceptions the other way around as well. At times I can't stand Pink Floyd, Marillion, Jethro Tull, Genesis and Rush (for example) and each of them happen to be among my favourite bands. There's no band in the world, to my knowledge and in my taste, that has a flawless repertoire to offer. I also wholeheartedly join in disliking Elton John, Billy Joel, Simply Red and Nirvana, to name a few. Kind of surprised that I can easily think of so much music I rather not listen to. |

Dude, Beat Happening has a "flawless repetoire" and so does the Velvet Underground, Godspeed You Black Emperor, and Jesus.

I do agree, but you seem to forget the tragic, forgotten Velvet album "Squeeze". Made after Lou's departure, so Doug Yule took the lead. |

Oh? In that case try the original one from UK: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2892 Quite charming little band. No teenage spirit odors included! Edited by Eetu Pellonpää - July 02 2007 at 06:52 |

I don't think there are good and bad genres, only good and bad music within a genre, and no matter how I might dislike certain genres, I will always be able to find a couple of songs that I'll hum along - including rap, obnoxious disco, even modern r'n'b have one or two songs that are i.m.h.o. kinda catchy...but the story stops there.
However two names that I can not stand are: 2) the cult. Why would anyone want to play in that band, or to listen to it? Aargh. You noticed that I didn't mentioned "1)". That's because the creature is too horrifying to be named. Name her not! However, there are two hints: a) forehead, and b) Titanic. |
