Have you heard In Utero? How anyone couldn't like that is beyond me.

I have seen many bands that are amazing listed here.

I really can't think of a band that I HATE because I normally find myself tapping my fingers to just about anything (I is a drummer)

Even those rap groups have some killin' drum beats.

Why would anyone hate Nirvana? What's so bad about them? Is it because Nirvana is too awesome for people to handle?

Anyone who is (well, was) good friends with Sonic Youth deserves a million clappies

I can't stand ACDC or at least when people call Angus Young a great guitar player  ....he's been playing the same thing for 30 years nowI'm not a Slayer fan at all.  I think they are overrated.  They pretty much played motorhead and venom while stealing king diamond's lyrics.  Not to mension their personal  religious hypocricies. I hate almost all black metal music. Ideology and principals have clouded any sort of musical evolution or change within itself.  Which is fine, just not my cup of Grey.I don't like Gym Class Heros.  Supertramp should never be recycled into a comforming radio hit single (imo).

I agree with every word of that, especially that last sentence. Clap
I agree with all of that, but i like AC/DC ok, they are a little sold out thoughI mainly hate Rap, mostly cause people call it music when it is not.I hate disco and 70s pop singers, cause it is just idiots musicI also hate with a passion Nu(noo) Metal, bands like Slipknot, they have 8 or 9 members and still still cant make music. and finally Death metal, simple music(soo simple its worth hating), crappy singing whats not to hate? the only band not qorth hating is Opeth, i dont really like them but they are progressive players so they arent quite death metal

You are obviously free to think what you want and like or dislike
whatever it is you choose however you should know the following things:Rap is music. Many people who like disco and 70's pop singers are not actually idiots.  Also while disco may not be your cup of tea, it did influence a hell of a lot of music that was actually really good.Slipknot does make music, its just really bad.and finally, death metal is hardly simple.  Yes it is simple in structure sometimes in that a stereotypical death metal song is based on a fast riff, cookie monster vocals, and drum blasts and a speedy solo towards the end. That's just a stereotypical death metal song and not only that they tend to move quite fast for several minutes (not always an easy thing to do whether you're the drummer, guitarist or bassist).  Singing like that isn't easy either.  Go listen to Cryptopsy and tell me death metal is simple.  They do all sorts of wacky sh*t.

By the way, some rap is very good music, Skoojoo. Hell, I like some rap better than I like most prog. I used to hate rap, but I decided not to be ignorant and give some (alternative) rap a try, and I love it. Try something before you hate it.

Never hate attack something you know very little about, (or be an elitist about it).

Awesome post, BroSpence.

I dislike most rap, soul and country music, heavy metal (and the subgenres), so called "boy bands" and "Madonna wannabes" as someone put it, also dump and monotonous 3 chord rock (don't know what to call it, Status Quo kind of stuff). However, as I said I dislike "most" of the aforementioned genres, there are exceptions.
There are exceptions the other way around as well. At times I can't stand Pink Floyd, Marillion, Jethro Tull, Genesis and Rush (for example) and each of them happen to be among my favourite bands. There's no band in the world, to my knowledge and in my taste, that has a flawless repertoire to offer.
I also wholeheartedly join in disliking Elton John, Billy Joel, Simply Red and Nirvana, to name a few.
Kind of surprised that I can easily think of so much music I rather not listen to.

I do agree, but you seem to forget the tragic, forgotten Velvet album "Squeeze".  Made after Lou's departure, so Doug Yule took the lead.

I don't think there are good and bad genres, only good and bad music within a genre, and no matter how I might dislike certain genres, I will always be able to find a couple of songs that I'll hum along - including rap, obnoxious disco, even modern r'n'b have one or two songs that are i.m.h.o. kinda catchy...but the story stops there.

However two names that  I can not stand are:

2) the cult. Why would anyone want to play in that band, or to listen to it? Aargh.

You noticed that I didn't mentioned "1)". That's because the creature is too horrifying to be named. Name her not!

However, there are two hints: a) forehead, and b) Titanic.LOL
