Great performance by Hamilton, such maturity to win especially with the safety car being out 4 times.
Has anyone ever made a start to their career as brilliant as his?

British fanboy!
Though I do agree. His FIRST year in F1 and so far he's finished 3rd, 2nd (4 times) and a win.
Amazing.
Compare to:
Heikki Kovalainen and Robert Kubica.

'T was some race indeed. I'm still a bit shocked about Kubicas accident. I never even thought he could stay alive with only one leg broken after that, but it's really stunning how safe the cars are.
Hamilton drove really well, and I think Kovalainen and Worz benefitted on other peoples mishaps, I mean, Massa and Fisichella were given the black flag, some had to stop, some broke down.

Is Kimi Raikkonen over rated?
I always thought he was the honest best driver of em (well except Schumi).
Now at Ferarri, he is not doing up to the level I would expect.

Brilliant drive from Hamilton to get the win under chaotic conditions, fantastic drives from Heidfeld, Sato and Wurz (who had a chunk missing from his rear wing for most of the race!) as well.
Kubica's crash was the most horrifically violent I have seen in nearly 10 years of watching F1, the fact that he got away uninjured (initial reports of a broken leg were wide of the mark) is staggering, especially since he might be back for Indy next week (if not, Sebastian Vettel will take his place).
Alonso and Ferrari in general were both disappointing, I was expecting the Ferraris to be fastest here. Kimi's a good driver, but its taking him a long time to get used to the Ferrari and the Bridgestone tyres.

Regardless, I am still pretty dissapointed with how Alonso and Kimi have run.
And this race was nuts.
Hopefully NEXT year I can get some people to go to the USGP.

Looks like Kimi is almost out of it....
I was hoping for a Hamilton/Massa battle.
Might still happen.

In 1961 a little known Italian Giancarlo Baghetti won his first THREE GPs ... driving a Ferrari F2 car for a private team he won the non-championship Syracuse GP against strong opposition, followed a few weeks later by winning the non-championship Napoli GP. The team purchased a new Ferrari 156 (the shark-nosed car) and entered it for the championship round French GP ... all the works Ferraris dropped out but Baghetti held off Dan Gurney's Porsche to win. Three races - three wins! But he never again finished in a podium position in a GP and only scored 14 world championship points [including the 9 for his win] in a 6 year career. Emerson Fittipaldi won his 4th F1 start in 1970 (it would have been 5th but the Lotus cars were withdrawn from Monza after Rindt's practice accident). Jackie Stewart won his 8th race and went on to finish 3rd in the championship in 1965. Bet you're glad you asked now ![LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif)

I didnt realise that Baghetti won the previous two non-championship races before that years French GP, but he was never up against serious opposition or they dropped out of the race. As far as consistency goes in the world championship, Hamilton has had the best début of any driver and hasnt had to rely on his principle opposition retiring from races.

![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif) Nice work.
Well, he may have won his 1st three but as you said, he never did anything afterwards.
Has anyone gotten off to such a good, consistent start? I mean 6 straight podiums, including 4 2nds.
I doubt it.

That was one of the worst crashes I've ever seen in F1.
Look at his feet sticking out!

What's really incredible is that he suffered no serious injuries and wants to race at the USGP. Taken from crash.net: As expected following positive reports on Sunday
night, BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica has been released from hospital
in Montreal - and is already targeting a return to action at this
weekend's United States Grand Prix.
The Pole was given the green light to discharge from the Hospital du
Sacre Coeur less than 24 hours after his high-speed flight into the
turn ten run-off area at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Despite initial
fears for his safety and subsequent reports that he had suffered a
broken leg, Kubica was deemed sufficiently fit to be allowed to drive
himself away from the hospital.
Intensive CT scans and other checks confirmed that the 22-year old's
injuries were confined to a mild concussion and sprained right ankle,
and he showed few signs that he had been involved in a major incident
at one of the quickest parts of the Montreal circuit as he left the
hospital.
"I have no pain and feel well," he said in a statement, "I want to
thank everyone for the medical attention I received and for all the
good wishes. Mario Theissen and other team members came to visit me and
also thanks to Jarno Trulli, who came as well. I am happy that I have
been able to leave the hospital so quickly and will now prepare for the
race in Indianapolis."
Although the Pole's determination to be on the grid for the USGP this
coming weekend will be disappointing news for likely replacements Timo
Glock and Sebastian Vettel, he will still have to pass the stringent
medical checks mandated by the FIA's medical delegate. These are
already scheduled to take place at the track on Thursday. BMW Sauber
has until 4pm local time Thursday to confirm who will partner Nick
Heidfeld at the Brickyard.
The team has also confirmed that the accident, which occurred shortly
after a restart on lap 27, was the result of Kubica clipping the rear
of Trulli's Toyota, and that there had been no technical failure on the
Pole's F1.07.

Let's not beat about the bush here ... nobody has got even close to it ... 6 races into his F1 career Hamilton is in a league of his own. To show such in-car maturity is mind-blowing ... he had never even driven the Canadian track until practice yet all the experts say it takes time and experience before a driver can perform at his/her best at a circuit .... if he carries on like this then he will be unstoppable by next season. Re: the Kubica crashSeeing his feet is disturbing but considering the impact the footwell stood up [ahem ![LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif) ] to the job remarkably well. More worrying is the neck restraint appears to have been ripped out ... you could see his head bobbing about ... but even so, it presumably did its job during the main impact. I must admit, when I first saw it, I was instantly reminded of Gilles Villeneuve ... the circumstances were eerily similar ... shows how far safety has improved over the years.

Yes, the safety really is something else. A friend, very new to F1, was watching the race with me and he was SURE that Kubica was dead.
And imagine Hamilton being the next MS....

Had to spend the weekend at the community center training for my job, I come home turn on the TV and there is the USGP!
And this finish was alot more like I would expect. Congrats to Kovalainen, who is apparently driving for his job, and Sebastian Vettel who grabbed a point.
Hamilton wins his 2nd race.......
it begins.
