Alex Lifeson of Rush. The Rush in Rio DVD set was a nice reminder of this guys sense of humor. And every time I have ever heard him on Rockline, he's always joking around.

Zappas probably, but Lifeson has a great sense of humour. I always thought Fish was quite funny too, when he wasn't whinging about relationshiop breakdowns
Lets not forget Mr Wakemen too. He's always cracking jokes..some better than others..  I like his radio show on Planet Rock, he's quite a good humoured and lively presenter.

His jokes/sense of humor is the corniest of all corniest, but you will still get a good laugh out of them no matter how many times you hear them. As corny as he seems, you know that he just really means to be a sweet person. Some good ones are on the Yes Symphonic, Yes Years, and Songs From Tsongas DVDs. |

Hehe yeah i got Yes Symphonic so i know what you mean and i allmost feelt sad for him since he yust wana be a sweet person but obvuiulsy cant come up with a good joke no mather how hard he tryed.
Zappa was very fun in the begining of his carear but the longer it whent on he started to try to hard and spoiled it all, and in the end whent over the edge.
Well i vote for Ian Anderson i seen some old shows with him and that guy realy know how to entertain and bring on a hell of a show and i realy like his humor.
 And i know hes not very prog but dont forget Keith Moon, the funnies rock dude outside of prog.

Indeed. A lot of his music I didn't find too funny, but as a person I think he was hillarious. I'm only one chapter into "The Real Frank Zappa Book" and I've already been in hysterics at least 10 times.  |

I love Mikael Akerfeldts sense of humor, although he may not be the funniest of them all (maybe Zappa). But Mikael does a great job of entertaining the crowd between songs. I've seen videos of things like Death Metal vocal lessons during concerts to "guess the song" competitions with some great jokes thrown in.

Defining moment - some 25 plus years ago at the Junos (canadian grammy equivalent) - He & Kim Mitchell were presenting the nominees for best classical recording, when they came to Liona Boyd, Kim said how good he thought she was. Alex replied that , yes, she was so good that she could blow them both with one arm tied behind her back

I was going to say Alex as well, but for an interview I saw once, I think on the Rush in Rio DVD (I only watch the add-ons once, focus on the actual performance). He was talking about Geddy: "He's playing bass with his left hand, keyboards with his right, using his feet for the bass and synth pedals, and he sings to it as well. He's only got one limb left to play with, and I'm not sure I want to see him play with that...." The guy is my favourite in this thread, because he makes jokes like that every once in a while and still doesn't get the image of a joker, like e.g. Zappa does. |
