PS - Always a bit underwhelmed with the Klaatu albums to be honest - CALLING OCCUPANTS is an amazing song, but The Carpenters version is definitive in my opinion.

Here's an obscure artist you should rate: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1030 Not sure about the Psychedelic/Space Rock designation though...

Steve, PM a mailing address if you want to review the Shadow Circus album...If only for the fact that I would crap my pants in appreciation, and you could amuse yourself at the thought that such a simple action would garner such a reaction!
Saw you at Town Hall in NY last year. Utterly brilliant show! |

Signals is a five star album indeed!
As is In Absentia, if I ever get around to reviewing it. |

OK, I may understand that "Lightbulb Sun" just get *** from its creator. It is a very melancholic Album and certainly reflected a momentarily state in his life (the ultimate "break-up Album"; some songs honestly just break my heart... ![]() What I just can't understand is why "in Absentia" is not even mentioned??? ![]() ![]() It was my absolute favorite until FoABP came out !!!! For me it is just sublime.... Just MHO here... Edited by mrs_jingles - June 01 2007 at 02:49 |

Welcome to the list Mrs. Jingles!
Sort of related to all of this, I beg your pardon on my ignorance if it has already happened or is in the works, but wouldn't it be obvious in a number of ways to have Porcupine Tree as the opener on the lastest Rush tour? |

Thanks for the welcome Tommy!
IMO I don't think PT will be opening for nobody anymore. I guess they're over this Phase already. ![]() A collaboration with Rush in any other form/ Project? Why not? |

Welcome Mrs. Jingles!!!! In Absentia was the album that got me into PT. I had Lightbulb Sun and was really trying get the feel for it. In Absentia helped "understand" what I needed to listen for. Yes, it is a five-star album and I feel it has a lot of emotion. To topic about PT and Rush touring together, I would highly doubt it because they are both such huge names in the Prog world but more realistically, Rush has since Test For Echo been doing 3 hour shows to simply fit it in as much music as they can for their fans. I wonder if they (Rush) have reached a stage such that they feel they would short change their fans by splitting the bill. And how to choose material from such an extensive library! I'm curious what SW feels about the outlying Rush releases he didn't address. It may very well match those of the average member here. I mean not that it matters, because our opinions belong to ourselves and really should not have an effect on others opinions. Hey Tony, SW permitting, would a future interview be on the books for this web site? I think most members would find it very interesting. Edited by StyLaZyn - June 01 2007 at 09:24 |

Now I can't be given heat for thinking Lightbulb Sun is only a 3 star album, I got Steve Wilson backing me up.

I can tell you why I think Alex bought FOABP before meeting up with you in Toronto. The answer I believe is that he couldn't wait. Alex & Neil are fans of Porcupine Tree as most are aware. Waiting over a month is a long time for one to wait to hear such a masterpiece. On top of that, Rush are busy getting things set up for their forthcoming tour & Geddy's son, Julian, I believe is rumored to get married just days before the first tour date this month. Well, I hope Steve & Alex got to hook up though at the PT T.O. gig. There's two fantastic guitarists right there. Btw, in regards to the PT crew - does anyone know if Mike the (merch) guy still around? I haven't seen him since the In Absentia Tour. |

I don't know about calling YHD COMPLETE rubbish, but it is kind of a waste of space haha. Mute is an excellent song IMO though! Beautiful stuff! |

Thanks for the Welcome!
I also don't think YHD is rubbish. Not at all. I like this Album quite. But well, it is obvious that SW judges his own work with other eyes (or better said, other ears ![]() As for me, I can just judge the music with the heart; He surely judges is also a bit with the head, having to take care of thechnical details we don't havce a clue about. The other factor, is that we all judge our own wor in a much severe way as others do... ![]() |

Both outstanding articles and very inciteful about him not wanting to be pigeon-holed into a genre of music. I had thought he liked to be classified as Prog, but apparently it is not the case. Also, how he talks about Lifeson and the luck he had while recording FOABP to find out Mr. Alex was a fan.

I am not a Rush fan. For me, Rush music has nothing to do with PT music. If Rush and PT would have tour together I won't have go see this show at all ( I would not have been able to bring my husband to that show).
My husband is not really a PT fan, but he liked the show. He was very surprise by all this music with many different sounds and tempo. He enjoyed watching the drummer, Gavin.
