Mind you, if he didn't think it was good enough to buy it in the first place, it wouldn't say much for the album.

If you're the real S Wilson (PT guy) you should try to mislead people by giving your albums a one star rating. If you're the real S Wilson, you should also give all the Rush albums 5 stars. And the Klaatu ones , too. If you're not the real S Wilson, then you should still give the Rush & Klaatu albums five star ratings.

Speaking of contact with Prog stars, I remember waiting outside Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto on the Hold Your Fire tour for two hours before a little beat up red chevette pulled up and Geddy Lee walked out with I presume his son. I shook his hand but he was not very talkative. Alex Lifeson arrived 1/2 hour later in a limo, but drove right into the underground garage. When I saw him get out I shouted "Hey Alex how about an autograph?" He just shook his head and kept walking. Oh well, I guess rock stars need their privacy too.

I'd bet it's the real Wilson. He's been here a year and only has 24 posts--yep, unlike most people here (including me) he has more important things to do with his time .

He is the real Steve Wilson, and he might post more if every thread he posted in didn't turn into an omg Steve Wilson's here!!!! thread. It's an honor to have him on the forums, but he's just another poster with another opinion.
Is there a text version of the interview anywhere Tony? I'm on 56k now and don't feel like downloading a 10mb file.

Yeah, I'm at work and just found out about it. The file is blocked for me (IT Nazis). My damn impatience restricts me from focusing on my job until I hear what Mr. Lifeson has to say. ![Wink](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

I'd just about have to agree with those ratings, but only because I prefer songs that aren't spacey/ambient. And an agressive drummer makes a big difference with me.

Haha, yes, Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape is rubbish! That's just my opinion of course, but don't exepect a reissue of that one ever again (yes I know, why did I release it in the first place?) These ratings reflect my own happiness or otherwise with the albums, and I'm very happy with the last 3, not crazy about anything before that. OK I should really rate some other people's albums too, and I will sometime soon. Every Rush album from 2112 to Signals is a 5 star album for me. And by the way I like the new Rush album very much, still absorbing it....

OK, I may understand that "Lightbulb Sun" just get *** from its creator. It is a very melancholic Album and certainly reflected a momentarily state in his life (the ultimate "break-up Album"; some songs honestly just break my heart... but still extremely beautiful) What I just can't understand is why "in Absentia" is not even mentioned??? ![Shocked](smileys/smiley3.gif) ![Shocked](smileys/smiley3.gif) It was my absolute favorite until FoABP came out !!!! For me it is just sublime.... Just MHO here...

Welcome to the list Mrs. Jingles!
Sort of related to all of this, I beg your pardon on my ignorance if it has already happened or is in the works, but wouldn't it be obvious in a number of ways to have Porcupine Tree as the opener on the lastest Rush tour?

IMO I don't think PT will be opening for nobody anymore. I guess they're over this Phase already. ![Wink](smileys/smiley2.gif) A collaboration with Rush in any other form/ Project? Why not?

Welcome Mrs. Jingles!!!!
In Absentia was the album that got me into PT. I had Lightbulb Sun and was really trying get the feel for it. In Absentia helped "understand" what I needed to listen for. Yes, it is a five-star album and I feel it has a lot of emotion.
To topic about PT and Rush touring together, I would highly doubt it because they are both such huge names in the Prog world but more realistically, Rush has since Test For Echo been doing 3 hour shows to simply fit it in as much music as they can for their fans. I wonder if they (Rush) have reached a stage such that they feel they would short change their fans by splitting the bill. And how to choose material from such an extensive library!
I'm curious what SW feels about the outlying Rush releases he didn't address. It may very well match those of the average member here. I mean not that it matters, because our opinions belong to ourselves and really should not have an effect on others opinions.
Hey Tony, SW permitting, would a future interview be on the books for this web site? I think most members would find it very interesting.

I can tell you why I think Alex bought FOABP before meeting up with you in Toronto. The answer I believe is that he couldn't wait. Alex & Neil are fans of Porcupine Tree as most are aware. Waiting over a month is a long time for one to wait to hear such a masterpiece. On top of that, Rush are busy getting things set up for their forthcoming tour & Geddy's son, Julian, I believe is rumored to get married just days before the first tour date this month. Well, I hope Steve & Alex got to hook up though at the PT T.O. gig. There's two fantastic guitarists right there. Btw, in regards to the PT crew - does anyone know if Mike the (merch) guy still around? I haven't seen him since the In Absentia Tour.

Both outstanding articles and very inciteful about him not wanting to be pigeon-holed into a genre of music. I had thought he liked to be classified as Prog, but apparently it is not the case. Also, how he talks about Lifeson and the luck he had while recording FOABP to find out Mr. Alex was a fan.

I am not a Rush fan. For me, Rush music has nothing to do with PT music. If Rush and PT would have tour together I won't have go see this show at all ( I would not have been able to bring my husband to that show).
My husband is not really a PT fan, but he liked the show. He was very surprise by all this music with many different sounds and tempo. He enjoyed watching the drummer, Gavin.
