You're crazy! It's just metal.
Not to be insulting, but what makes you think Mudvayne is progressive in any sense of the word? Could you elaborate on why you think they should be here? I am curious.

Perhaps you'd have a better chance in suggesting something more underground or more inconspicuous to the mainstream scope, instead of picking bands that have already established themselves in the "not necessarily progressive" industry. Even if it were to be rejected, at least it'd come to a more interesting discussion in the process, whereas, given Mudvayne's popular status, the answer's really that obvious; people here like surprises...maybe. Just a thought.

How about Linkin Park?
Or Oasis?
those choices seem just as logical.

Mudvayne's popular ? I believe that the metal monster make-up bands (Slipknot, Mudvayne,Mushroomhead) have seen their best days, music & popularity wise. They may have their "cult" following, but I predict that most of them will be working day jobs soon. THough I think the guy in Stone Sour might have a longer career. |

Yeah, you're right and I was kind of reluctant to use that term, since you won't be seeing them (or hearing about them) in the top of today's charts, I think, but, like you said, there is - or at least was - somewhat of a "cult" following. But the point I was trying to make was that we all (or almost) know who Mudvayne are (and a good lot don't care too much for them, either, me thinks), even if they're the old news, now, so it's less likely that we'll be having a bigger discussion there...that and the fact that they're clearly not progressive. |

You might as well add Milli Vanilli and Lionel Richie to the archives.

I see where he is coming from. Mudvayne has been known to use some complex time signatures and even called their style math-metal at some point.
NO they are NOT prog, they never pushed musical bounds or created anything new never came close to classical music or wrote long compositions or electric instuirmentation, or consept album NO NO NO!

I don't think they're prog metal, but before you dismiss, just forget about the radio singles and listen to the LD 50 album. It's very good, at least in the rhythm section. The bassist is phenomenal and they have some great experimental electronic interludes.
If you've never heard "Death Blooms", it's a really good track. They were much better with the makeup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FeIu_pf-_E Edited by GoldenSpiral - May 30 2007 at 00:55 |

WAIT! WHAT?
your joking right, you gotta read the rest. I mean they are as good of a choice to add as metallica (who should not be added) for christ sakes. But they still should not be added

Soundgarden used all kinds of odd times.
is that prog?
no.
Neither is Mudvayne.
Nickelback would get my vote though.
seriously.
Leave it to us humans to try to reach such ridiculous conclusions.
