So what do you all think about Fripp's hair?  I liked it better in the early days, rather than the restrained accountant/child molester hair he has now.Pig

You betray your "newb"ness by even comparing Fripp to Hackett.  They are both too awesome for words, they are both in leagues of their own.  But, even Hackett would admit that Fripp gave him early inspiration, even before Genesis hired him to replace Ant Philips in the early 1970s...

Yeah, Fripp can be equated to god, and Hackett is... god's sidekick aka Laurie Esteban.

I just saw Children of Men the other day and it featured the song "In the Court of the Crimson King" in the soundtrack!

Remember guys, feel free to share any anecdotes/legends/myths/stories you have about the Fripp (I'm too lazy to makeup a Fripp worship) and/or King Crimson or anything the Fripp has ever done.

The Fripp appeared to me in a dream last night.  He appeared in the form of a giant stool and lifted his cushion to speak.  And what he said was the most profound thing I've ever heard, but I forgot what he said.

So, instead I present you with THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF FRIPP AND STOOLIE - and their sidekick Bruford

Fripp and Stoolie (his ever loyal stool) were walking along a pool of dirty water one day, when Fripp paused to ponder the nature of music itself.

Fripp:  Stoolie, my friend and ever loyal companion, I have mastered the guitar and have become proficient on the mellotron, but I am still not recognized as the true genius that I am?

Stoolie:  Oh Fripp, whose ass I would gladly lie beneath for a century of guitar soloing, I am but a humble, if ever loyal, stool.  Why ask me such questions?  If I had an answer though, it would be merely the suggestion that you kill off your greatest opponent in the prog community.

Fripp:  And who would that be, for the Fripp has no enemies, he is a white-maned fox lurking among the forests at the edge of dawn, he feedeth on the fallow deer and hunteth of the autumnal plains.

Stoolie:  Steve Hackett.

Fripp:  Who?  The Fripp knoweth only one Steve who be master of the axe and that be Howe.

Stoolie:  He played in Genesis.  And has a new album out with a naked picture of himself with breasts on it.

Fripp:  HAHAHAHAHA.  So he's Collins's boy?  Very good, and how do you suggest he be disposed of?

Stoolie:  Why we'll get Bruford to do it, of course.

Fripp:  Ah, yes, why didn't I think of that.  Bill, be a good boy and come here.

Bill:  Yesssszsh, mashter!

Fripp: I have a job for you... to help improve your drumming.  Kill Steve Hackett.  Do you know of him?

Bill:  Yesssszsh, mashter!

Fripp: Of course you do.

TO BE CONTINUED!!!!

Who's that Hackett guy? I haven't heard of him. The Fripp should not waste his mental resources on dealing with such insignificant issues.
...He might want to consider the case of one Al di Meola though... Wink

I think that Stoolie, the ever loyal stool, needs a better name.

tell me if you think of a better one.

In fact, I've heard that Genesis hung In the Court of the Crimson King on the wall of their rehearsal space, as a sort of "Holy Grail" to strive for.

Legend has it that Phil Collins lost his virginity to Robert Fripp's guitar soloing.

Legend also has it that Steve Hackett lost his virginity to a picture of Robert Fripp.

For anyone who doesn't know who he is, he's probably your biological father (GASP OF HORROR).  And the memory is so awesome to your mother that she couldn't tell you.

Anybody else here read Fripp's diary (online of course, not in his home or something)?  Today's entry was brilliant, another example of him blowing away every shred of competition.  Have you EVER read something about suitcases that ROCKED this much?

"

More prosaically, the suitcase about to be closed, and on its last journey…

This Samsonite hard-shell has returned from each travelling with another part of its shell broken, smashed or dented. It has been too far, too often and, if it has feelings, I know how it feels.

Gaffer tape to hold shut the lock that doesn’t…

The case arrived in Spain with one lock open, but hanging shut on the other. Then, in the corridor of our first tour hotel, in front of the door to Vast Mansion Of The Star in Hotel – It Sucks! – With Smoke, Somewhere-Near-To Somewhere-Not-Very-Near-To The Old Town Of San Sebastian, the case simply opened. It’s time to assess reliable travelling gear for an Old Goat Of The Road, aka The Mystical Maestro, Rock God.

The present & future: a Happy Gigster’s Briggs & Riley Wonder Wheelie Of Delight & Reliability…

… with guarantee, even if an airline is responsible for damage."

Another brilliant  diary entry today.  I was so inspired, I couldn't help but share it with you.  Brace yourself, your world is about to be rocked.

"

A sunny morning along the Chalke Valley. Left…

Right…

Look a little farther down & you can see a For Sale board on a former-office premises now converted to a highly expensive bungalow…

The village has very few dedicated office spaces, and this was one of them."

Fripp is Prog
Fripp is God (together with Hendrix, Zappa, Beefheart, Lord...)
Without KC, many of the modern bands wouldn't exist, or if they did, they wouldn't sound the same
King Crimson is 100% prog
