Sieges Even's "Art of Navigating by the Stars" has some of the finest production I have heard! Also, Fantômas' "Supended Animation" is brilliantly produced as well!

Yes, all the albums exist in japanese remster. Lark's tongue is harsh but it's due to the music and to numeric natural's harshness in CD.

Does the 2004 KC remasters also includ Lark´s tongue in Aspic? I love that album, but I have a real big problem with its production and sound quality

The Traffic 2002 remasters are not bad.

Doors remaster 2001 Vs Rhino remaster 2007. The 2001 remasters are better sounding. The new Rhino ones have less dynamic, have lost life. The highs goes less far and the low is bumped. But it features some good bonus (maybe already issued on boxes). Worst, "Morisson hotel" has been re-mixed and it's very different from the original record. This set the issue of the original work's respect. But, this "Morisson hotel" Rhino remaster features some great bonus, especially "Spy in the house of love" and "Queen of the highway", both jazz versions. But if you want a guenuine and best sounding release: turn on the 2001 Elektra remaster. |

The Doors 6CD + 6DVD-Audio set "Perception" has been already released in 2006: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=14174
BTW don't believe Zappa88's 1-star rating, it seems he doesn't know what DVD-Audio is.

Thanks for that article. Bump low is false low. It's like the frog which tries to be as big as the beef.
It's not real low, not tight, quick and deep. It dribbles and it gets the ears tired. |

Here's an article about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war I agree that it's a bad thing, but how can compression cause a "bumped low"? I think these are two separate issues ... |

I'm not much into current prog. The Daevid Allen's Sacred geometry are good. |

It means that they compress the dynamic, which result in a bumped low. It's not natural.

Oliver, by "overbumped," do you mean the master volume is too high, to the point of clipping? I'm no audiphile, so I'm not really familiar with the terms.

What about more recent albums? Albums that might not be remastered, but released in the last couple of years?

You mean the bonus tracks or the original album? Ther's a bonus which is awesome -both musically and sound-, it's "A day in the life of Maurice Haylett". Great dynamic. These Caravan CDs suffer from the usual drawback: a little overbumped, but the precense is superb and the highs are very soft. Edited by oliverstoned - April 06 2007 at 06:18 |

I was just reminding that Cd can't be pefect cause by essence it's numeric and it can't match the vinyl. |

I thought the vocals on at least a few tracks were mixed quite softly. |
