I´m confused about this category...

Reading the definition of prog related makes me think what happens with the millions of bands with "prog elements" that are not really progressive rock.

I find Faith No More very progressive for example, but I guess that there are not enough prog elements or something.

What bands do you think that deserve a place in this "subgenre of progressive music" and are not listed in PA ? Why?

The Beach Boys for Proto Prog if not ProgRelated, because Brian Wilson was the first progressive rock`n roll composer and the Smiley Smile album speaks for itself.

The Who because they invented rock opera AND cause Pete was goofin' around with symphonic synths in '73.

I think the best "rule of thumb" would be to think about whether the band is important or relevant in the context of prog. If that's true + they made an album which contains many prog elements in most of the tracks (and not just a small percentage), then they are prog related. At least that's how I see it ... Smile

Mansun - so called 'indie band' but they had some influence on Steven Wilson I reckon. They did a concept album called Six as well as 2 other studio releases.Recently a triple CD set was put out Kleptomania including the previously unreleased 4th album and various demos/rarities. Very talented band with a strong Beatles influence. They broke far enough away from Nineties 'Brit Pop' to be a highly regarded 'cult band' and in progarchives terms merit inclusion under prog related IMHO.
