Ah yes, "outro." Truly an underrated word, right up there with "underture."
Anyways, I'll give my nod of the hat for the moment to "Baker Street Muse."

Since you mention VdGG, I think one of the greatest endings was that of "Wondering" in the life version at the Royal Festival Hall in London almost two years ago. It led right back to the beginning of the concert, the lone opening flute notes of "Undercover Man", with Jackson playing them, slowly fading out, forming a full circle with the beginning. I could not have imagined a better ending; in fact no-one wanted an encore after that, and not only because Hammill had announced that this was definitely the last. It just HAD to be the unforgettable ending of an unforgettable event. I am usually not a great fan of that song and consider it to be one of my least favourite of VdGG, but this ending, and the lyrics of the song too, which fitted the occasion exactly, make me think they couldn't have ended this fantastic evening any better.

Intros: Revealing Science of God - Yes -- absolutely most unique, hair-raising, adrenaline-rush intro EVER! Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Welcome to the Machine, In the Flesh, Breathe, Sheep- Pink Floyd....yeah, they were damned good at writing great intros. Roundabout, And You and I - Yes
Outros: Gates of Delirium - Yes Aquatarkus Live - ELP Beatles - The End

There are way too many to list them all... so I'm just gonna go with The Beatles - "The End" ..... a perfect way to end their career

Something that comes immediately into mind for me is the Intro of the Aqua album by Asia. It is technically a track by itself but actually just an Intro. It brings the album title and the cover art together in a particular wonderful way. I whish there was much more of these atmospheric moments on the album and they had kept up the water theme more throughout the album.

I have many to mention (especially the endings of Genesis ) but my favorite ending of all time is OCTAVARIUM of Dream Theater; great guitar solo, with great arrangements.

considered as a whole, the albums "thick as a brick" and "dark side of the moon" have remarkable intros / outros; but the best outro for me goes to King Crimson's "Starless" after a close battle with "Gates Of Delirium" from Yes.

Actually, I didn't notice this similarity at the concert itself. But, thinking of this a posteriori, I have to admit it was a great idea (if it was intended; I tend to believe it indeed was).

Great topic.
The band is clearly Yes, with many song candidates ranging from Silent Wings of Freedom to That That Is.
But it's last few moments of Tempus Fugit that always give me the biggest head rush: massive organ riffs, stampeding drums, Steve Howe's lightning-like guitar, and the wacky Yes-Yes-Yes vocoder.

Gentle Giant's "A Cry For Everyone"
I also like the ending of Emerson, Lake And Palmer's "The Three Fates (I Clotho, II Lachesis, III Athropos).

How about a bit more commentary to support the nominations.
The thread is a bit dry with just lists of titles.

This is about endings not beginnings. I hope you meant outro.

There two great outros which came to my mind at first:
Eloy - "Land of No Body"
Eloy - "The Light from Deep Darkness"
They were the real masters of superb outros which combining bombastic symphonic & psychy-space moods at these times.

My favorite outro is Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part 1 because of the build up of tension from the violin to the cool bassy part to the percussion instruments. Very cool.
