^ I see - don't worry, the website is meant to focus on prog, but you can add any artist/album you like. I will add a filter which by default hides non-prog albums, and which you'll be able to tweak in your profile settings.

I want my website to be useful to any music lover, not just prog fans. So while there is an emphasis on prog, the website should also be useful to fans of other genres. Classical and Dance/DJ present problems though: Classical music albums are essentially all "cover albums", meaning that you have the original composer and the performing artists (directors, musicians), and Dance/DJ music is centered on tracks, not albums.

So: add any studio/live/DVD album you like, and I'll make sure that when visitors enter www.progtology.com they only get to see the prog albums until they decide to allow the rest. I'll even add a filter for tags, so that you can filter out metal albums if you're so inclined.Wink

Right I'll add non prog albums when they reappear in the rotation then. Wink

About the classical problem surely you could just use the composer's name and the suite title in the database but mention different recordings in the description, may not be the best way but it makes things a lot tidier.

I don't need a metal filter Tongue

Ok, I've got a suggestion: could you please make an option to disable the time? For example, if I am absent the whole day and I come back home to insert in all the albums I've listened to, I do not want it to appear that I listened to them all at once simultaneously. I am sure most other users also don't update their sigs accuratelt, and can't, really.

After using it all day I have to say it gets easier as you get used to the system.

Mike, in the My Signature page menu, there is a line that suggests:

Signature Images
This part is entirely optional ... if you plan to use the signature service you can enter the data here, but you can always edit it later.

But I don't really see where you can upload or put a pic.

Unfortunately pics are a bit of a problem ... the server is located in Germany, and German law is a bit tricky when it comes to publishing pictures without knowing about their copyright situation.Embarrassed

BTW Trickster: Currently the first box is not shown because it is too wide - you should either reduce font size or increase the maximum signature width.Smile

Would it be possible to add password cookies to the site, so that users are remembered and don't have to re-enter passwords?

I really like the sig.  Keep up the good work.

Oh, I see, Mike. By the way, it's me, Ivan (ivansfr0st was my old name) - remember, we used to be in the Prog-Metal Team together for some time(you actually invited me)? I changed nicknames some time ago. Smile

I think I'll probably increase width.

Hm, let's see... If I make a picture on my own, say, in Paint, and don't "copyright" it - can I use it as a signature pic?

^ I know about the nickname change ... but what's wrong with calling you Trickster? If you prefer Ivan I'll use that, and cause some confusion for newer members who only know you by Trickster.Wink

About the images: Well, the thing is: If I enable people to upload pics, how do I know that they're free of copyright? Even if you faxed me a letter declaring the image free of copyright, I still wouldn't know for sure, because there's no way for me to know whether it is really your picture.

The thing is: when asking for pics in signatures most people fancy band logos, cartoon characters etc. ... and those images are almost always copyrighted.

Sorry, I had just come to school by then and the idea that you had never noticed my nickname change immediately (and I was so knackered I wasn't even surprised) - of course, you've noticed. Damn, that was stupid.

I think calling each other by real names on the internet makes it more "alive", more natural - I do prefer to call Rico "Rico" though (or sometimes "Reco" - progressive jizz rock specialist Tongue), but that's a case in point. Wink

Well, I won't insist then, I see the situation in your country. I just wanted to enter the Immortal guys in another terrible Paint in their genuine glory. Smile

By the way, doesn't the sig change the ratings automatically? I listened to EoS - Crimson I today, and added it to my list. It was displayed with a 100% rating, which was obviously too much (I don't even recall giving it such an impressive value), so I changed it to 92% - it still displays the same.

^ about the ratings: Currently the system stores your rating of the album when you add it to the playlist. It's intentional - you can listen to the album for the first time, then rate it and add it to the playlist, and then later (when you know it better) you can compare your first listen rating to how you rate the album now.

I'll make this configurable in the signature settings - and of course you'll also be able to configure whether you want the playlist signature to show ratings at all.Smile

All right, cool. I just think it's a too big of a fuss to rate albums once you hear them (and when I listen to music, I hardly ever feel like I should judge it on the scale - might not be the case for ours, but music and numbers are two very separable things to me) - plus, sometimes reviews disappear on your website and all the work is gone.

Changing that is a good idea. A configuration that allows you to change time would be excellent, but I'd have to remember the time I actually listened to these albums and that's the hardest part. Tongue

^ it doesn't have to be totally accurate - that's why I chose a "fuzzy" date/time display. People should just see whether someone listened to an album just recently, a few days ago, a few months ago etc..

Ah, alrighty then. Smile But if I listened to an album two months ago, wouldn't it be absent from my signature, replaced by other ones?

^ sure, if you listened to many other albums sice then. But I'll add the same mode configuration that I now have for the last.fm signature - so you could configure your playlist signature to use the entire space for the playlist history (e.g. much more than the last 10 albums). Or you narrow down the list to Neo Prog Metal, in which case your signature would probably only show a few entries for a whole year ... Tongue

Yeah, a few entries all rated 0%-20%. WinkTongue

I wouldn't want to limit the displayed data in any way, I'd just like it to display whatever I play. Wink

One question: is it possible to remove albums from the playlist? I accidentally clicked the add to playlist button twice for one albumEmbarrassed
