NOTE: This is for all the users who are using my signature service (http://www.progtology.com/home/signatures.xhtml).

A few months ago I was announcing a new mode - an alternative to the Last.fm statistics. Unfortunately the complete re-design of the website took much more time than I thought, and I wanted to complete that first. But now the new mode is available:

"Recently Played Albums/Album Playlist" (I'm still not sure about the nameEmbarrassed)

The differences to the Last.fm mode are:
  1. It is based on albums, not tracks.
  2. You enter the albums yourself - there's no plugin which collects the data.
You can enable the mode in the signature settings. Then each time you listen to an album, you simply go to the album page and add the album to the playlist.

Let me know what you think about it.Smile

I'm bumping this ... I'd be glad if some of you could test this, just for the sake of giving me some feedback. Especially if you think that it's too cumbersome ... please have a try and then tell me how it turned out.Smile

This may sound like a stupid question, but being you are imputing things manually do you still need a last.fm account?

^ no, all you need is a PROGtology.com account. You simply configure your signature to include the mode "Recently Played Albums" ... then whenever you listen to an album, just go to the album page (just use the search facility) and use the button in the sidebar to add the album to your playlist.

It's really not cumbersome ... actually it's just a few clicks, even if you're listening to half a dozen albums each day.Smile

Well...its there.

And it is quite easy to add albums. Clap

My question: Whats with the "3m" in front of Adrian Belew? And is it suppose to say statistics in between?

^ the "3m" stands for "3 minutes ago" ... and the box headings are not being displayed correctly in your signature. I'll try to fix it - the boxes should be at least wide enough for the heading. Currently the width of the boxes is determined just by the contents, not the heading ... Wink

Ahh. Embarrassed

Sorry. That makes sense. There were alot of options, a few of which I was afraid to change so I figured I'd let it be defaulted.

Thanks. Smile

I changed the code so that boxes have a minimum width of 120 pixels ... should look much better now!

I like it! I'm adding it.

Thanks Mike! Your site rules!

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to set an image as a background for the sigs?

Hi guys - thanks for testing the system!

Let's collect feature requests and suggestions for a few days - feel free to mention anything that you like (or don't like) about the current implementation, and by the end of the week I'll post a detailed answer.Smile

Well the system for finding albums is a bit long winded, it would be easier if there was a drop down list of all the bands on the site, and a second one for the selected bands discography, also a custom entry form would be useful for adding albums to the sig, that not on the site and won't ever get added.

^ you can add missing artists and albums - there are no restrictions (just please don't add inofficial demos or bootlegs). Just use the search facility, and if the artist/album is missing, go to music db / artists / add artist to add an artist, or to the discography tab of the artist to add missing albums.

Yes I know, but I'm assuming that given the name of the site the database is for prog only and not say blues or classical.
