This just got submitted. It isn't really a review at all just says the album is crap and nothing about why the album is supposedly so bad.

1 stars Throw this album in the dustbin right away if you own it, and if you don't own it, don't even enter any shop selling this album. This album is rubbish, and i mean it in the most excessive way you can imagine. Really, don't buy it!!!

MAHAVISHNU PROJECT* — Return To The Emerald Beyond

Review by maxoblast

4 stars just a note for site managers :

this Cd is actually by the MAHAVISHNU PROJECT, an exciting tribute band led by drummer Greg Bendian playing Mahavishnu music, and not by the real Mahavishnu Orchestra. They also relesead 2 years ago "Phase 2", an excellent double live album of stunning Mahavishnu covers that I purchased at an open air summer concert in Italy. I haven't yet heard this new album, but I guess from the quality of their previous work that must be a killer ! So far their work has been praised by McLaughlin himself and they even managed to have Jan Hammer as guest in a recent USA concert

happy new year MAXOBLAST from Italy

His main message was not the review, and an entry for Mahavishnu Project has been created.Smile

Review by nonzno (anthony)

5 stars this album is the one of the best cd's i own. its very progressive and the melodies are truley meaningful. i dont want to write a huge review because i can see many people love this album as much as i do. if you come across this review, if you want a good progressive rock cd. get this cd, i love it i love it i love it, its on my top 20 fav' cd's.. but this and honor it

Is hardly a review beyond fanboyism ("I love it, I love it, I love it" Dead), I say delete the review and keep the rating, seems honest.

^^ the review supports the rating, and indeed isn't very meaningfull, but it still beats a rating-only thing, so i say keep it, maybe encourage the writer to re-do his review.

as a side note, maybe we should be able to surpress these kinds of reviews from showing on the page, or insert a rating device for reviews, so bad reviews get displayed lower in the list.

Tuxon, the only things he says about the album are:
  1. It's a meaningful Prog album
  2. One of my top 20
  3. Seems everybody likes it
  4. I love it, I love it, I love it.

We don't need a new Foxtrot review that says that (Specially when weights double than a RWR, vcould be manipulation), I also disagree with ratibngs without review, but this is hardly a review IMHO.

@ Iván & tuxon: We, generally, delete reviews like that and invite the reviewer to make a new one, more improved. The results are fine up to now. Smile

@Mascodagama: the reviewer is entitled of his opinion and if it's in accordance with the guidelines, the review stays.

Anyway, I'm changing your post to this thread:

There we may discuss this review in details, and the reviewer may also participate.

Just got submitted, it reminds me of a Dream Theater album as it is just about 30 words of fillerWink

On a serious note, it's only 37 words and just says that there are 19 tracks that sound good.

The same review for two different albums:

TAKO — Tako

Review by Greger (Greger Rönnqvist)
PROG REVIEWER

5 stars "Tako" (1975) and "U Vreci Za Spavanje" (1980) are two great reissues from the Brazilian label Rock Symphony, a label that have reissued many forgotten jewels before such as ALPHA III, FRAGIL, MALIBRAN, and new releases with HADDAD and TEMPUS FUGIT.

- TAKO are something as unusual as a Yugoslavian jazz-rock and symphonic progressive rock band. The band was put together in 1975 and the band's name means "this way". Between 1975 and their split up in 1981 they released two classical albums: "Tako" (1975) and "U Vréci Za Spavanje" (1980).

- In my opinion the 70's were the heydays for progressive rock, and TAKO have all the ingredients that makes these releases worth owning. They were a 70's band, their sound is very 70's oriented, the cover is so wonderful 70's and the music is complex with lengthy instrumental passages. TAKO's music is a mix between CAMEL, FOCUS, FOCUS, JETHRO TULL, OZRIC TENTACLES, PINK FLOYD and SOLARIS.

- I strongly recommend you to buy these two albums if you're into 70's progressive rock. This is how progressive rock sounded long before today's progressive metal.

Greger is a fine reviewer and I'm sure the deed was good-intentional, but I still think that both albums (and reviews) deserve a little bit more effort.

Is a platform to bash a band rather than review an album.

...this isn't really a review, but rather a bash fest of TMV...i know some people might not like them but this isn't even a good/real review...

plus he gives it one star when he later admits "it's not a mediocre album, but rather just a mediocre prog album" or something to that effect...not exactly a statement that belongs in a one star review. He never speaks about the music in the album, just bashes it's members and the album itself...
