Of course it's about oil. Control the oil - you control the world. The U.S doesn't have that control. This is where the problems began, with Bush senior. Saddam wouldn't play ball. To suggest that oil is irrelevant is living in denial, wishfull thinking at best. If Bush's motives were to "free the world" the States would be at war with every little dictatorship on the planet. Unfortuately, only the countries of value to America will be graced with invasion and social destruction.
Bush's war is illegal. Thousands are dead and more will continue to die, all because of a family feud and ultimate abuse of power.
Saddam deserved justice. Now, so does Bush.

I doubt that too many tears will be shed for him by the Kurdish community (among others) but this execution is more likely to incite further violence than it is to contribute to any kind of peaceful future for Iraq. Saddam Hussein alive and growing older and more decrepit in prison would show him as the vanquished thug that he truly was; Saddam Hussein hanged at dawn has all the trappings of martyrdom and the dangerous fanaticism that it inspires.

I know I do. |
Why? |
What have we gained in the past 4 years?
1) Horrible reputation.
2) A War that has killed 3,000 US troops and so many more Iraqi civilians
3) A civil war among Iraqis
4) A reason for Islamic extremists to congregate to a focal point where the US presence is closer and easier to kill
5) A distraction from finding Osama bin Laden
This was probably the worst descision in decades.

Stone, sometimes I wonder that no matter what the US does, we'll still be hated. We've become an easy target.

Yeah, it does seem that way. Probably because America thinks it always has to take the initiative with things. It's ok to be part of a coalition, but do we always have to be in the forefront? C'mon, just a supporting role once! |
Situations like these keep the wheels turning, industrially and economically. It’s a strange think to say but without these conflicts then the world wouldn’t operate in the same way.

No. There are plenty of places to drill for oil in the western world... if not for those damned ultra-lib environmentalists. Going to war for Iraqi oil is absurd and blatantly false.

I don't believe this hollywood made crap,If they are executing Saddam how it is possible that they didnt found Ben Laden yet?
Im sure that Saddam and his family were exiled by Americans to somewhere in safety. And the one who is being 'executed' is some Saddam's clone.
I know it sounds stupid but i believe that its the truth.

Well, regardless of what you believe, there are those of us here who honor Jesus and appreciate what he did for us. Maybe a statement like this should be left out of the forum.

There we go again. Bloody f**kin' hell... And besides, Saddam killed 5,000 kurds as well as ordered the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of other people. Bush has ordered the killing of NO BODY aside from legitimate military targets. If you serve the army in a time of war, you are a military target.

Lol. I don't care what Jesus said. I prefaced the whole argument with the warning that I am an atheist. I don't accept Christ as my savior... or anyone else for that matter. I DO NOT BELIEVE IN A HIGHER BEING. Jesus was just some poor schmuck, etc, etc. So I have no reason to "remember that" as it would mean nothing to me if I did.

And if harm is done, then thou shalt give soul for soul, eye for eye tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, blow for blow. And when a man shall smite the eye of his manservant, or the eye of his maidservant, and shall destroy it; he shall let him go free for his eye. And if he shall knock out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant‘s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth.By the by, I'm an atheist. But the Bible says what it says... punishment should be equal saith the "good book."

Never said I was joking. I said that it's a double standard to say it's alright to insult Americans and their way of living but not to insult the way of living of any other country.
On topic...
