http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=99764 http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=99768 normally I would report abuse against the low-written Invisible Touch, but you would also recommend consideration regarding the style and the way to interpret. not really the most classy guy. Guigo, check out The Black Mages page please. For each of their two albums a reviewer(Garsha)simply copied reviews of previous reviewers.
For the first album his review is copied from shyman and for the second album his review is copied from Zitro. http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2406 This reprehensible!!!!! |

This kind of blatant disregard for the rating system makes a mockery of those of us who rate strictly to the definitions and thus award lower ratings to bands/albums with lower Prog content

And if we all call the tune, then the piper will lead us to reason Hey guys, I prefered to leave the Untitled name for the album as, beside most known as Led Zeppelin IV, it doesn't actually have an official name. Also, Led Zeppelin is not prog, but I still recall the importance to discuss here all aspects of good made rock of the seventies, and I'll review it as the masterpiece it is, not as a Yes-style purpose. It doesn't make sense to add not-so-prog bands here to harsh their albuns because even if good, they aren't prog. ..... All in All, this is THE ALBUM, although not prog, it helps us understanding the way music creativity worked in the seventies. |

BLACKFIELD — BlackfieldReview by Dalezilla (Jesse)Well this is quite a difficult album to review. Why? Because some of the songs are great and some of them are merely ok. Steven Wilson, despite being quite arrogant, can write very good music. Porcupine Tree's trademark has been the melancholic approach to their music. Blackfield uses that same approach, but something's not working. First of all the songs are too short. The song "Blackfield" seems more like a radio edit with it's fade out ending. The first time I heard the song I thought that wow this is the best part of the song, but then suddenly it ended. The songs aren't as complex as Porcupine Tree's songs, but some of them are still quite good. "Blackfield", "Scars", "Pain" and "Summer" are all great songs, but the rest of the songs are just to boring. They're just really quiet rambling and don't seem to go anywhere. But because about half of the songs are great it would seem like the album could be enjoyable even with the weaker tracks. But the problem is the lyrics. They're really depressing. The album has this sort of a relaxed, laid back feel, but the lyrics somehow prevent the enjoyment of the record. Porcupine Tree's music isn't all that happy either, but their lyrics aren't quite as depressing as these. Most of the time they seem sort of whiny. Kind of like: "I can't do anything...life sucks...I'll kill myself... laa laa laa". That was a bad example, but that's the feeling I get from the lyrics. So overall I'm sorry to say that I can't give the album more than 2 stars. It could maybe be 2,5, but it's not 3 so I'll just give it 2.
I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that. I just read that and I can't believe what I'd written. Terrible. I certainly don't feel that way about the album and about mr. Wilson. That's an old review so that's probably the reason for it being that bad. I'm going to submit a new Blackfield review soon. Please delete it! I'm embarrased. |

No not yet. I occasionaly have problems sending PMs. The problem isn't sending them, it's just that the people I send them to don't always receive them. I've heard that other members have had this problem as well. |

Hugues wrote that more than 2 years ago, though. He's got a lot of reviews and is trying to catch up on redoing some of them, I believe.
