	I think it would have to be Hughes/Coverdale era Burn, Made in Europe, CTTB, Stormbringer Uriah Heep only had (the very good) Firefly and (the weaker) Innocent victim

	Not quite. There was also 'Fallen Angel' which is pure AOR and 'Five Miles' which was unreleased at the time- has its moments but is even poppier. It has to be the Coverdale/Hughes Deep Purple. Far more consistently excellent.

	The Coverdale/Hugues era started off very promisingly with "Burn". Unfortunately, "Stormbringer" was a very disappointing album, apart from "Soldier of fortune" which ironically is one of my favourite DP songs. I never felt Lawton had the right voice for Heep, but "Firefly" was every bit as good as "Burn" in its own way. Difficult choice, but I think DPs lows were lower.

	Well I actually found Stormbringer to be a grower- I didn't like it at first. It was the first DP album I ever had and typically for me, it was the least typical! As someone who counts Coverdale as perhaps my fave singer, it has a lot to commend it. And IMO, no DP song of this era plumbs the depths of 'Save It', 'Love Or Nothing' or 'Flyin High' that Heep's albums in question had. And I speak as a diehard fan!! I love CTTB too!!

	I agree salmacis, I also wasn´t too crazy about Stormbringer a few years back, but it is a real grower. If you accept the more bluesy/soul direction that they took at the time you come to realize that there are some great moments on Stormbringer. Edited by WaywardSon - October 19 2006 at 17:19

	Even though it's the weakest era of DP, it's still better than any Uriah Heep to me.

	For me any Heep era is better than DP, excluding the Evans/Simper/Blackmore/Lord/Paice which is great, so Heep.

	Stormbringer was the coolest album since Machine Head...I loved it oh, so much. Burn was good but Stormbringer rocked!

	^IMO, it didn't. I think the fact it didn't rock is a big problem people have with 'Stormbringer'. It was the first DP album I had and it's the least rocky album in their catalogue- typical I'd have that one first. On repeated listens though, it's a good album. I think the rather flat production didn't help it though- Ian Paice has admitted as much, more or less. And Blackmore puts in a very lacklustre performance, it must be said.
