Topic: Congratulations!!!! Posted: October 08 2006 at 08:09 |
You just managed to put an Iron Maiden LP in the top prog releases list, above others like Zappa, Oldfield, Porcupine Tree, Ozric, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Spock's Beard etc...
I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY.....

it's really low now, search in top500 for Seventh Son.. but this is only the beginning... i bet my head that this will go on and it will climb up to top100 and other IM LPs will follow...
so, do i have to erase my profile somehow or just stop visiting?

That's entirely your choice, but is rather an over-reaction isnt it?
Its a list of popular albums that's all and its not even in the top 200 and I doubt that IM ever will be in the Top 100. It would take a lot of Collaborators/Prog Reviewers giving them high marks,to achieve this and it aint going to happen trust me!
You know if I wasnt a Moderator with this site,I would probably NEVER visit the Prog-Related Forum...why dont you do the same?

ok, i'll continue to come here, it was a momentary lapse of reason ...
still, even if i don't visit this forum, i'll be pissed about the fact that IM will surpass real prog LPs and how can you be so sure about them not climbing up tha top100?
how about that recomendation of mine to exclude all the Proto Prog and Prog Related bands?
i mean "Up The Downstairs" is a prog gem and "Seventh Son.." is a metal gem with 2-3 prog related tracks in it and Seventh Son is higher... that's provoking, don't you think?

I also highly regret these type of inclusions because it shouldn't be a priority...a tone of obscure (and really vintage) progressive bands are missing in the database, I work in favour of it and a justice closer to the guideline.
I advise you to forget this kind of disconcerted additions and go directly to the main subjects.
Sorry for these deviations but I cannot control it, I hope that you’ll find your stuff in the rest.

hahhahah... not happy... amused though
I see what you are getting at, but it really doesn't matter does
it. Any list that has that many Genesis albums that
high...over albums that ...well... are much much better really should
be taken for a grain of salt. It's a list of popular
albums. Nothing more nothing less

I'm also a bit dissapointed from IM's inclusion.... The fact is that while IM and Mastodon are here, bands like katatonia are still missing.
The thing that made me think it was a very risky decission was the fact that as many have said "if iron maiden are here let's put sabbath, metallica etc etc etc....". This is not the point of this site. IMO the correct thing to do would be to have an article about proto-prog and prog-related bands that would say historical info about bands that influenced the prog scene. Having more than 2 reviews of IM on the last 10 reviews list is a bit odd.

Now I think that, for top 500, you are overreacting. Practically any good supported and rated album will get around there.

It's not really that important. Does it also make you mad that Mariah Carey gets No. 1 hits, or do you just accept it? It's just poll results. They have no bearing on your life. I don't like Tool or Dream Theater, but my head isn't about to explode because their albums are highly rated.

I don't know what you all say but Queen really rule
Anyway, Maiden don't deserve the place in that site; it's just Harris who is a big prog rock fun, not all of the band, especially their music... Of course, their last album is different (compared to the others) but still, Maiden aren't supposed to be here
