Maybe it's just that I haven't had it long enough, but Supper's Ready wasn't the masterpiece I expected it to be. Oh, it was quite good, to be sure, but it didn't seem to hang together very well, and the songs that didn't hang were of lower quality than the rest of the album - I'd take Get 'Em Out by Friday over Lovers' Leap any day.

Also, I've heard it's supposed to be based on Revelations, and alternatively on some supernatural experience Gabriel's wife had - but only individual movements seem to agree with any one interpretation.

Just wondering if anyone else got the sense that Genesis didn't so much write an epic as smash a few songs, of varying quality, together.

Definitely good, but hugely overrated. And yes, it does seem like a bunch of songs not very naturally made to fit together. It provides for a number of interesting listens, but I think Genesis at their more concise could and indeed have been much better than this.

Last option for me, I'm afraid... I've never really be able to get into it. My fault, I know, but this is how things are.Unhappy

Great song, and a classic, but it's not all it's hyped up to be by most.

Good song, but not all that ground braking.

love the final and some parts, but as a whole I can't really get all excited about it.

Green Tank, yes, it's a classic - but is it good?

Arrrghus, that would be "Wonderful, but not underrated."

pretty good... but not the greatest thing I've ever heard I guess..   however Genesis was far from the only groups the smash song fragments in one piece and call it an epic.  Most the the rule than the exception.

Better than Close to the Edge, and that's not something I'd say lightly.

Not overrated, just brilliant.
