Krautrock

 

Not a matter of rivalry, indeed... check my signature ; I love both bands (Can a little more, though)

btw; I think AD II went downhill after 1973. Nothing imaginative as Yeti or Lemminge... the same can be said about Can, but there's something that appeals me, even in their disco flavoured albums... (not Rite Time, that's something else!)

 

 

Just listening to Anubian Lights' Let Not the Flame Die Out album.

this band is listed as Krautrock in the archives, despite the fact that they're from the USA. To make matters more complicated, they were moved here from psychedelic/space rock section!!!!

 

There are also a couple of other bands from other parts of the world, and the multinational Between... you can say Krautrock is a style rather than a national movement, but do these non-german bands really reflect the Krautrock style? (the said album of Anubian Lights reflect more of an experimental/electronic approach rather than classic Krautrock style) 

 

Besides, even more German related bands (Swiss etc.) aren't listed under Krautrock, such as Brainticket (contrary to Krokodil, which I thought were swiss, in Krautrock!)

 

so, what are the criteria for Krautrock? if anubian lights is here, shouldn't bands like Tortoise and Stereolab also be included? (I didn't hear either of them, just writing upon info I got from PA) English Amon Düül is excused because of its original AD II connection; what about the rest? More important; what are some German bands in space/experimental genres while they could easily be described as Krautrock? (My Solid Ground is a prominent example)
