D(D)T for DT polls!!!

   No more DT pollss please!!! (at least for a moment)

It's great to be able to bash DT on a regular basis - keep 'em coming!

Dream Theater can play the hell out of their instruments AND compose excellent songs. There's no way they'd be garnering so much attention if they weren't great songwriters in addition to their instrumental pyrotechnics. You've just got to ask yourself: why are you here in a DT poll? Are you here to be negative to bash everything, or do you actually care about the topic in question? All the DT bashers should know this: trashing DT is perpetuating the attention towards DT that you so despise.  Nobody wants this. Give it a rest.

No, they can't compose excellent songs. That's why a large number of people don't like them, because they are of the opinion they are not very good songwriters.

Sure they can write a riff in 9/8 time and do a crazy solo but that doens't make anything worth listening to.

They get attention becuase of their ability to play their instruments and the fact that they sometimes are "circusy" with their music.

And I made the poll, so don't ask why I'm here. Don't assume anything either. I didn't trash the band per se until this post, becuase you went out of your way to make it look like I am some sort of d*ckhead. The majority of DT polls are being made by the fans, not the "bashers". Reconsider yourself for just a second.

Whether he has a point or not is NOT the point. The point is he was using me as a scapegoat for w/e reasoning he wanted to have, when I had little to do with the issue.

However, if there's 100 polls and 50 of them are DT, then what else do you have to respond to as a forum member?

I would like to either propose a permanent ban on the creation of new DT polls or have a separate forum for all the DT polls that way other members do not have to sift through them.

You misunderstand me. My first paragraph was directed towards you, my second paragraph was towards everyone. I should've specified that.

You are of the mind that DT can't write songs, and only get all their attention through being "circusy" with their music. I'm paraphrasing; excuse me. But there's a reason I like listening to DT more than I like listening to Yngwie Malmsteen or Symphony X (although I like them too); and it has to do with DT being more dynamic and better overall songwriters. There's no way I'd be wasting my time with DT if I didn't think their songwriting skills are, in fact, extraordinary. It's fine to hold your own opinion. You have yours and I have mine.

Now again, my second paragraph (the one with the magnified font) was for everyone. Again, I apologize for failing to point this out. You're right, the majority of the DT polls are made by the fans. Not me, personally; I've never started a DT thread of any sort. Hey, I mean, I like talking about DT. But I'm sick of seeing polls about them because it just clears the path for the flames. And think about it: if the people who don't like DT but who complain about all the DT polls could just help themselves by abstaining to all these polls, think how much less attention DT would get. No more DT polls, no more brainless DT zealousness, no more brainless DT bashing. Everybody wins.
