Yes,that was a great review - you really hit the nail on the head.

I was urged to give that album a chance. Afterward, I really wanted to write a review, but thought I'd better not. I'm glad Bryan had more guts than I did.

hahah that is the one DT album I own and started to review it and lost interest in it.... I was more generous in my rough draft though .. I gave it 2 stars

I guess my "Fabrizio De Andrи + PFM In concerto" review was not bad at all.

The aim was to turn progheads to Fabrizio De Andrи's works. Don't think I was successful though.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,

Hmm, in this review of AKTUALA's "La Terra" I think I managed to describe the music in quite colorful ways: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=84063 Smile

Well, I recall someone actually copied it some time ago, replaced ELP with Rush, and that one got deleted... It's excellent from where I'm standing though.

BTW: my own favourite review (out of 3) is for Blackmore's Night - Past times with good company. My first. It will be topped by another one shortly...

I think that review is essentially "British" as is the album. Its very clever because it makes as much sense as the lyrics but makes perfect sense to me as does the album....err if you know what I mean?

I'd be sick as a parrot if you deleted it....

I've never managed to write a review myself. I had a plan to start with my own top ten sometime ago, so I started with Pawn Hearts. It never got finished. I remember when I decided to look for ispiration here, these two reviews impressed me:

Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts

Review by lewisoutrider

5 stars It's albums like this that finally weened me off Spider-man comics and soccer star trading cards. The gatefold cover alone puts it in my top three of all time and the lyrical content is a truly religious experience. I only hope that new listeners can hear why we are all giving it five stars. No matter how innovative contempary prog bands are, I don't see another "Pawn Hearts" on the horizon.

Review by simondippie

5 stars Possibly the ultimate prog / art rock album. Very dark, but extremely intelligent, lyrics. The studio recording quality of this album makes it hard to believe that it hails from 1971. Superb musicianship throughout makes this album an essential listen for any serious prog fan. (Warning - this album was the main reason my wife left me!)

Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me

I'm quite fond of this review of mine-

Guapo- Five Suns:
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=85711

Approve

EDIT: I'll note that I really do think my early reviews are poorly written (I've rewritten a few of them but they all need a redo as most of them suck)...Ouch

I must admit my reviews are not that great...I do make an awfull lot of spelling mistakes...jujuju, and Im in no way to be compared to say erik, Progtologist or Ghost rider...
But I guess my review from Deloused in the commatorium is pretty descent, as another reviewer called my name in his review to say he feels the same way about the record...and then there is also Rush Counterparts...which I gave 2 stars!LOLLOLLOLLOL
