let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

I've tried , but can't think of any positive things to say about
Gangsta Rap, except that its somewhat better than the rappers being
real gangsters.
I do like a lot of hip-hop, though.

not country but more hip hop, grunge, punk and metal prog...
For instance John Fahey is an incredible bluegrass / country guitarist...the father of "primitive" american guitar and mystic, desperate blues.

Whats 'Mainstream country crossover'? Sh!t like Shania Twain or something? If thats what it is, it gets my vote without a doubt, otherwise Gangsta Rap.

(Gangsta) Rap and Hip-Hop (IMO) suck big-time. All other genres mentioned have at least something musical in them (some very little though), but with the ones (I cannot get me to type that two times, that's how much I loathe them) When I hear a "song" of these genres on the radio I switch to another channel immediately.
Disgusting stuff.

Heh... Why would Skid Row not be Hair Metal? They sound and look like any Hair Metal band.
Bach, although a great singer, is a self-centered diva. We shouldn't
believe everything he says. I'm sure he pretends Skid Row is Prog Metal
or something like that.

Rap is the sickest, violent, anti cultural virus in music today.

I agree, the is the appeal of people beating, shooting or in anway killing or abusing a fellow person (or animal), I just don't get it. Hopefully it will die soon.

I agree. I get annoyed when alot of rappers say that even though they cuss and glorify violence and degrade women in their 'songs' that they are actually sending a "positive" message in that they are just talking about their experiences. They dont get it that when a 10 year old kid thinks its "fly" to be a gangsta and pack a gun they use this so-called music as their soundtrack.

I won't even get into the argument about its negative influences. This stuff is just juvinile mindlessness. What's so creative about it?
