I think that verse belongs to Another Day, not Surrounded, though. The song is, in my opinion, bristling with the album's essence and charisma, thus I would rend it essential to the array of songs present, as it complements the ambience constructed throughout the album and, even though it isn't, by any means, their greatest track (or simply great), it's still an indispendable melody of near-beautiful performances, especially regarded from keyboards and vocals, albeit not so much adroit in instrumental and compositional traits, nor as appealing as the rest.

This is why you should let Robin save the day...

I like this song, especially the guitar solo which reminds me very much of It Bites.

That's Another Day, not Surrounded ;). Both songs are great though.

Kevin Moore does a fantastic job on it.

I love it.

^Yes, it may be the weakest track on the album. That really doesn't say much though, because it is a fantastic album start to finish. It doesn't sound like Dream Theater necessarily, but Dream Theater's sound is constantly evolving and what not anyway. I personally love the song.

It's easily the weakest short song.  It matches it's potential though.  "Under a Glass Moon" is the least impressive song on the album though.  It just doesn't live up to it's potential.  It would be better as an opener.

I think Dream Theater should've done what they had originally planned and put "A Change of Seasons" on Images and Words.  You could then make an album like this:

Under a Glass Moon
Another Day
Pull Me Under
Surrounded
Take the Time
Wait For Sleep
Learning to Live
Metropolis
A Change of Seasons

Under a Glass Moon would be a nice heavy opener track, and it would set a nice tone for a lighter "popier" section at the beginning of the album with each track getting more and more progressive and interesting.

What a release that would've been.

"Mastodon sucks giant monkey balls."

I disagree, Under a Glass Moon is a very impressive song. A Change of Seasons on I&W would make that album unbelieveably good, but I very much like it as a stand-alone track.

absolutely love this song. If ever there were a song to show to someone to show that Dream Theater isn't "all about chops and virtuosity" like some people say. The song is anchored by a simple but powerful keyboard hook (I don't think Rudess would do something that simple and powerful, with one or two exceptions) and features one of LaBrie's best performances. Incredible song. I love driving to it!!! I crank up like 15 miles over the limit (at least)!!

""they took pictures of our dreams" is from "Antoher Day", not Surrounded.... and that part isn't that impressive :P

Try that high part in Innocence Faded... one of the most impressive recordings of James LaBrie...
